Thank you for your video. I really appreciate it. When I first purchased this machine it worked just like you stated. The second year of operation was less reliable and required CO2 cartridges and a ridiculously expensive CO2 cartridge attachment to clean out the propane burning unit. From this point on the operation was sporadic and VERY frustrating. I also found that the mosquito magnet CO2 cartridges where expensive to purchase and it was suggested that every time I swapped out the propane tank, I was required to use a CO2 cartridge to clean out the working parts. I did this as per Mosquito Magnet instructions. All in all it cost me about $100 to $150 to run for the first season. This expense excludes the purchase of above mentioned equipment ie the cartridges and attachment. In year 3 (this year) I fired up my mosquito magnet and spent an entire day trying to get it running. As the warranty on this useless machine had expired after the first year I had no issue opening it up. After watching a few KZbin videos I diagnosed a problematic "Thermistor" I believe this temperature probe regulates the internal temperature of the mosquito magnet and keeps it running. I went online to purchase a replacement part and found that there are no available parts for the mosquito magnet. The only item they allow to be sold online is the igniter part (on ebay) I called the mosquito magnet service people and was rudely informed that they do not have part numbers or are able to send me any parts at all. I was referred to a service center in Canada. Although Mosquito Magnet worked well for a year and caught basket loads of mosquito's the subsequent years year of operation were terrible. I paid $400 for something that has a shelf life of approximately a year to two years max. There is absolutely no customer service or parts available. I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Its finicky and expensive to run! I will be posting this to other mosquito magnet youtube videos sites in order to warn other people of this gimmick. If anybody wants to purchase my broken mosquito magnet and resides in Ontario please let me know and maybe I'll be able to re coop some lost money:)

Wow. I’m not sure if this is the same model going on sale at Lowe’s Canada tomorrow May 27th for $311. And with the shut down here in Ontario I can’t see if it’s the exact same. For The capital cost I might have bought. It was the short warranty, maintenance and replacement parts that’s scarring me off. Now your issue. I guess I need to keep looking….again.

My family had used MMs for several years. Kills mosquitoes, absolutely. Cost of unit and running it was kind of high between the many CO2 cartridges and refilling fuel tanks. But we would have continued using them if they hadn't broken down so many times. We paid to ship and repair the units. We figured out that the slightest ting in the electrical lines would shut off the MMs like a breaker flipping off. You know when you see the time on the microwave or clock blinking.. This wrecks the inner workings and the repair people were rather rude at the time about any questions put to them. Plus we didn't know it was off unless we started getting bit again. These units aren't supposed to be next to your house since it attracts bugs so we didn't sometimes know it was off and go out to turn it back on. Finally it was to much and we gave them away to other family members who have the same problems.

Another KZbin video shows that it works quite well. However: Sounds like the mosquito magnet isn't very efficient unless you optionally buy mosquito attractant to increase the kill ratio 10x. The attractants are $50-$65 for six. How long do they last? 21 days. Six cartridges last about 120 days. You will need more if your "mosquito season" is long. Also, you'll use a 20lb tank of propane per month if you run it 24/7. It can get expensive.

So the first year it did not work since i did not know this. But the 2 year worked nice, I put it near my garden and now when i go out and pick stuff i dont get bitten. they suggested to start it in May and let it run all summer long until the garden is done. so this is what i do. this way im killing the early ones before they can make more. This is one dangerous trap. Do you really want something like this around your children? The fact that it MUST be placed far from people should be your first clue. Save yourself thousands of dollars by following these easy steps. You will need one 2 litre plastic soda bottle. One whole box of of cooking yeast and one ounce of sugar. That's right folks... you just spent less that $10 dollars to make the worlds safest and most reliable mosquito trap. Now, cut the bottle one third of the way from the top off, save it, you'll need it to complete the trap. Now, add one half litre of water to the bottom part of the bottle. Add the whole box of yeast and one ounce of sugar, mix and stir. Take the upper part of the bottle you cut off, invert it and place in the bottom portion of the bottle so the threaded opening faces down. You have just made a very safe and real awesome mosquito trap... that is safe and requires less than ten dollars to make. Before buying unsafe products... apply common sense. Do some research and use environmentally safe trap. By the way, my instructions were free. Lol.

Charles Wright incorrect, certain mosquitos have high importance in the ecosystem such as mosquitos in the northern regions of Russia who fly in mass and pollinate plants that supply other species with a food source. So, therefore, removing such mosquitos will massively affect the food chain and, therefore, affect us humans. What you really want is to remove mosquitoes that are vectors, the ones that are dangerous for humans instead of all the mosquitos! You shouldn't trust Google, Google is a bad friend.

Perfect for me to catch and use to feed my fish

Dagwood Dogwood I just want dry instead of the larvae. I presume that the adults can move meaning that I can get more flies from more different location vs. Harvesting from 1 bucket and that bucket will take time to replenish after a harvest. But there will always be mosquito flying around.
