I made a twice-turned bowl from a piece of yew.
I cut a bowl blank from a fresh piece of yew and roughly turned it into a bowl shape.
After turning, I treated the bowl with several layers of sealer so that the wood can dry slowly and evenly.
I let the bowl dry for more than a year before turning it a second time and finishing it.
The bowl was somewhat deformed by drying, so I first mounted the bowl in the colejaws and rotated the bottom and recess again.
When the bottom was flat again and the recess was round, I mounted the bowl with the recess on the chuck and turned the bowl and finished it.
For the finish, I first used a few coats of sealer and when it had hardened, sanded it to 600 grit and finished it with friction polish.
The bowl has a diameter of 22 centimeters and is 8 centimeters high.
