Albert, this was an amazing piece of wood for turning. The grain looked almost 'out of this world' so stunningly as it is. I love the final shape you produced, it shows the grain in 'all its glory' & I don't think there is any more you could have done even to the finish which totally enhances the grain. I have told other people I follow that I am not a woodturner, a wanna be woodturner perhaps, but I am a teacher now a disabled , retired Senior Master of Art in South Australia. So I look at what you, & others produce from that Art perspective. This piece totally holds its own as an artistic piece. Thank you for sharing your work. Stay safe in this current world affliction, Don.

Yet another masterpiece with grain and colour that is really stupendous. Sadly I have not been able to spend any time on my lathe during the last few days as I have been busy making a new bench for my new grinder, with a vise on the other side. I have an oak crotch that is eager to jump onto my headstock and be transformed into something lovely. Sadly it will not have the grain and colour but I have high hopes for it. Thank you so much once more, for a thrilling and different production.

Thank you my friend Good luck with the bench it sounds like it is something you need to do and we must take care of those . Not all fun you know LOL.. Every piece has a lot to offer but just never the same as the other.. It would be boring if all looked the same.

Thank you my friend for watching as you always do rain or shine. As far as the missing clip... Well you missed 2 good hours of the most awesome shaving flying in 3D space. I have come to the conclusion that the hardest part of this is filming. Maybe we can get a bionic eye with recording capabilities. That would save lots of problems. You see it. they see it but might be a problem getting those shavings flying at the audience huh?

Muy Bien, compa! I was wondering where this turning was going with all the air being turned at first. This piece turned out really nice and I like the colors of the wood. As things progressed, I was thinking it was going to be something like a typical bowl we see being turned on many sites. But, this bowl is different and has the shape seen in southwest & Mexican pottery done by an artist named Mata Ortiz from Casas Grandes, Mx. I really like the shape! Orale, Al!!! Seeing this wood turning takes be back home to W Texas and Southern New Mexico; places and colorful culture I miss.

Beautiful piece again Al. What was the finish you applied from the bottle after using the Yorkshire grit? I recently made my own paste with diatomaceous earth, bees wax and mineral oil, it is similar to Yorkshire grit. So far I have been buffing with Carnuba wax as a finish .... wax on wax. Are you limited to wax finishes after using the Yorkshire grit, or can you apply other finishes?
@AlFurtado4 жыл бұрын
Thank you my friend for watching. I used OB shine juice on this one and it's my favorite finish I apply it 99% of the time

Al Great piece. I have 2 questions, 1 did you make or buy the hollowing tool, 2 when I use friction polish the paper towel sticks to the piece but when you use OB shine juice it does not ??
@AlFurtado4 жыл бұрын
Thank you my friend I made the hollowing arm I do have a video on it. and I use friction polish OB shine juice The paper towel sticking usually gives you a better shine but it means you are bit heavy on the shellac add a bit more of linseed oil

What do you apply to the wood after the Yorkshire Grit please, or is that a secret recipe? Love to know because the final results are what I like to see on a finished piece. It will help me in my early journey into wood turning. At 82 I am on a shorter learning curve time wise!!
@AlFurtado4 жыл бұрын
Thank you my friend for watching. I use most of the time OB shine juice Easy to make formula. 1/3 shellac 1/3 Boiled linseed oil and 1/3 Denatured alcohol. Shake and use. Be safe and healthy my friend

@@AlFurtado Thank you very much, for those not in the USA, who do not know what de-natured or rubbing alcohol is, it is ''Isopropyl Alcohol'' 98% or 99.8% grades. Those terms are not used much in Oz, people are familiar with Methylated Spirits, Methanol, both not good to drink, and Ethanol, which is the expensive drinkable stuff. As a former Bio Med Lab Scientist, much of my time was spent in a pathology laboratories where we used gallons of these chemicals. In Oz I bought my Isopropyl Alcohol on eBay in 5 litre lots last couple of years, I notice the price of this has doubled or more, as it is used in many hand sanitiser products. I make my own hand sanitiser because it is no longer available due to morons panic buying in bulk. Stay Safe everyone-keep your distance and wash hands in soapy water 20 seconds minimum, the soap breaks down the fatty layer around the virus, so it dies more rapidly.

Despite the video problem, the turning was very nice. Nice shape and the texturing was just enough to add a little pop. I didn’t catch what the finish was in the squeeze bottle. Was it a friction polish, thinned shellac, straight shellac or something else? Thanks. Cheers, Tom
