@@WoodturningWithJohnMarro I have been carving by hand and with chisels. I worked for a man, Moores Viens, he could carve and sculpt like Angelo. It was amazing to see, your talent is and does remind me of him. Jesus has blessed you with a gift, I am happy to have viewed your gift. Wonderful

I was pleasantly surprised with how well the Serious Grit lasted. I used the same pieces on all three ornaments, and saved them to use on my next project! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great job. Those big holes on the middle piece don’t get caught up on your lathe tool?

Hi John, I know this video is from last years ornaments, but I would like to make some comments. I have no reason to be critical in a bad way so please take this as constructive comments. I looked at a couple of your ornament videos and I feel (without knowing your sizes) that the ornaments are heavy, chunky even. With the wood you have you could make them finer in shape, smaller and with much more crisp details. If you work the diameters down from the tailstock end toward the Chuck end you can achieve better proportions. Take a look at Cindy Drozda videos for sample fineals. The centre Maple section could look less chunky if you turned it down to where only the holes show. I am looking forward to this years ornaments 2024. Please let me know if you might try some different techniques. Good luck…

@@peterfabricius662 hey thanks for watching and commenting. I agree they are a bit chunky but I am happy with them. Like any hobby we hope to improve as time goes by - three years and plenty more to come.

The end product is is very nice. But I really dislike the time lapse video. I cannot tell what you are doing and it all looks so frantic. Please show bits and pieces in real time. It would be more enjoyable and informative.😟😟

I like the contrasts in the woods. However, the center piece looks totally unfinished . There are unequal flats. Rough drilled holes also. I wouldn't consider this an heirloom ornament for my kids.
