Simon, you keep raising the bar on your projects!!! This was amazing!!! If you ever want to try some other exotic wood like rare ebony and some other species, I found an awesome eBay store! It's called exotic-wood-n-burls they have a great assortment of wood and they're great people! Watching your videos and some other people has inspired me to try and do something with wood. I now only buy from them as I don't have anything close to me that has any unique wood. Right now it's just knife scales and micarta, but I hope to be able to do more, if my knee and body allow it lol Thank you

SG Art Turning no problem, if they don't have something listed you can send them a message, they can probably cut to size what you want. Just mention me! Their family is also in the wood sculpting business. They make some incredible art from the root bulbs, big knotty branches and other "worthless wood". One brother stays in Laos and prepares the wood and then sends it to the states where it's finished.

Jeremy Buehler I second that, could have used the core to make a matching soap dish, tooth brush holder, and cup; instead of a bunch of shavings. However, if you weigh and package the shavings you might could sell them as artisan hamster/pet bedding. HaHa.

That is perhaps the most beautiful sink I've ever seen, yet. Love the finish and drain mechanism. BTW, just to help out, the english word for the paper used and act of using it is sand paper/sanding it/sand (verb), not "send". I hope this clears that up for you. The mechanism is called a "drain" as well, in english. Awesome bowl/sink. Did you "true-up" or flatten the inside and out of the bottom after drying (before installing the drain)? might not hold its seal if there is a warp left.
@simongadoury32447 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Russell Thank you very much Thomas, and yes I flat inside and outside. Oh and thanks for the word hehe drain

Hi Simon, I love your work. Just a quick question for you. On this piece and another (the weird burl) you tend to use your bowl gouge as a scraper (I believe it is called sheer scraping) when you shape the outside of the piece. I was just wondering why you do that. Were you taught that way or is it just your preference. Thanks very much.
@simongadoury32447 жыл бұрын
+Doug McIlwaine Thank you Doug, à sheering cut its not a scraping. It slice the wood to remove any tear out.
