Many years ago, Mom was the Health Educator on an USAF base. She noticed a number of serious cuts/injuries in the machine shop, so she made a safety poster printed on bright yellow card stock. She traced a large hand, drew in details to make it look realistic. It was missing the ring finger. The poster read "AND THEN THERE WERE FOUR." It was very effective.

Mr. Sprague … I respect the fact that you found resin to be so enjoyable, having either of your “types of bowls” would be a personal treasure. Being able to work with, and save, so much beautiful wood must be so satisfying!!! When you say that a piece of wood would previously be firewood, but now you use it and you make such amazing pieces, with anything any everything, makes for great content. I have enjoyed all of your videos … and I am a WATCHER, not a MAKER, but I went to the end of both of these videos!!! Thank you and good luck to you and your Wife in your move!!!

Not many people know how much work is needed to get into full production for a business. Guys like me we have a few burls or logs, cut up some stock and glue it together. Then we make a bowl. Most of it scraps that have been in out basements or garages for years. Orr we but kiln dried lumber that let us get started right away. Truthfully I'm not sure my body would let me do what you go. Having said that, I sold my house and then sold my latee years ago as I did not want it sitting in a steerage unit for years getting rusty.. I dabbled. You produce! Designer Epoxy

Good to see the rough-out process. Most people have no idea. This video give a glimpse into what it takes for us to produce a bowl. From felling the tree, or cutting up a fallen tree, to finished bowl can easily take 2 years, maybe even longer. Yet people still don’t want to pay the value of hand turned bowls. Thanks for taking the time to share the back story to our turning art. Designer Epoxy

It is really interesting to see the work that is put into getting the blanks, and I could see how a woodturner can look at the completion of this step and feel a deep satisfaction at the final result of a nicely stocked shelf. I had noticed all the blanks you had stacked on the shelf behind you, they didn't magically appear! I am impressed at your talent and creativity. It is a pleasure to watch your channel. Terrific video! As with any craft or art there is a process that must be followed. The reason most of us call this behind the scenes is because it is part of the process we, as the audience, are generally not privy to see. It shows why they are the price they are. Kinda like bead weaving, people don't realize what all goes into it. Stay safe. Hi Jim I really learnt a lot this week. I thoroughly enjoyed & I sincerely appreciate you explaining it simply. Hope & pray your shift goes well this week. Shifting is supposedly rated as one of the most stressful things in life -I pray for a straight forward smooth shift fou & your family & look forward to your next

Those spalted pieces are going to be amazing. Can't wait to see them. Good luck on the move and we look forward to seeing the new build soon. As for the hurricane's, western NC and eastern TN got hit terrible with Helene. The mountains were not supposed to get a direct hit and they did. The west gulf coast of FL got hit pretty bad by Milton too. Thanks for thinking of all of us down here. Areas around Asheville and up into the remote areas of the Appalachians are going to take a long time to recover. Designer Epoxy.

Too bad we didn’t get to see the roughing out of the box elder. I always find these videos fascinating I love the see the progress from log/burl to completed piece. That might be an idea for after you move if can handle the extra editing, I would love to see a video showing the whole progress for a piece. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would be interested in a video like that

That huge burl is going to be some real works of art someday. The black scrolling lines in your timelapse are a mathematical phenomenon called a Moiré pattern. A digital camera takes an image pixel line by pixel line, and because an LED light is not truly constantly on but rather flashing faster than one can see, some lines of the image will not have the illumination from the light and over time the math moves them. The solution is to check the frequency of the LEDs (usually it's 100 or 120 Hz) and set the camera to take images at that framerate or an even divisor of it (say 50 or 60 frames per second).

Hi Jim, another cool video. I work for the State of Florida and am currently inspecting debris removal areas. I really appreciate the well wishes for us here as I have seen some serious devastation (as well as in Georgia and North Carolina). Thankfully, not much here in Jax Beach, but in the big bend area for sure. Cedar Key seems to have gotten the worst of it. I am also the safety guy so the piece of wood you have screwed onto the wall is a good reminder. Safety first!! Good luck with your move!!! Neil
