Beautiful work John. Thank you for taking the time to document and share your process. I would not expect paint to stick to a surface finished with wax. But I've never tried it. Have you had any issues with the paint chipping or flaking off? Cheers!

This is amazing, I can't wait to try it, the Banksia wood is definitely more appealing than it's pods! Just a thought for next time, if you left yourself an extra half inch in thickness when turning the vase, would you have been able to turn it back to round and adjust for the warping? And there is definitely automotive pinstriping tape available that may have made this easier, it would probably curve around the form better, although you made this work!
