I have turned African Blackwood. Very heavy wood. I made a spinning top out of it. Spins forever. Thank you for the video. From: Petawawa, Ontario, Canada.

Cant say enough how inspiring this is for a beginning wood turner, I hope some day I am so skillful. Thank you so much for all your hard work. I am sure a lot don't realize how much effort goes into this off camera, editing and so forth. Good fortune to you, I hope you find all that you seek.

Good Job Mr. Zhou! I liked the way how you made a mandrel for the pen. Indian Red Sandalwood is lovely to work with. I had one chance to turn a pen from it.When it turned released a lovely smell and the reddish yellow colour and the grain structure was amazing. 1 of the few species which it was showing clearly the beauty of this wood after sanding just only 400grit-could be polished to a glass-like finish in my opinion.

I also really like this wood, it smells very pleasant to me, and I polished this pen to 5000 grit in the video

Where did you get the hardware for the pen? It doesn't look like the kits commonly sold. Very clean design.

May I ask why you stuffed what looks like a ball of rolled up tissue paper into the end of the brass tube, and did you also widen the brass tube by inserting a drill bit into it? Do you need to widen it yourself because you don’t have access to the specific dimensions of the brass tube you need? Also, if you sand the outside of the brass tube lightly by twisting the tube with your hand and pulling it up and pushing it back down onto the sandpaper which is wrapped around the brass tube, it makes it easier for you to insert the brass tube into the pen blanks and also makes the super glue stick onto the brass tubes better. Another thing is to apply the super glue onto the brass tube itself instead of onto the pen blank. You should spread a line of super glue up until about the halfway point of the brass tube. Using the thick type of super glue is also better. The reason why the thick type of super glue is better is because it doesn’t drip as much, and it easily fills the gaps inside the pen blanks when you insert the brass tubes.

Ebony? For what?

In order to control the diameter of both ends and metal fittings in line, it is easy to overcut if there is no ebony for reference
