It's all about saving time and energy. The setting up is sometimes slower than the turning itself.

@@MarkBeckettRPT setting up may be slower, but usually makes the task go so much faster. BTW, would have cool to have a large basket under the lathe to catch the turned blanks so all you had to do was loosen the live center.
