End grain lidded pot. This project didn't go quite as I planned..but mostly. What do you think?

You always impress me with what your able to produce on a smaller lathe. I have a smaller one as well. I recently bought one with a 48” bed and 14” from center. I always look forward to your content.

Thanks a lot👍can't afford a bigger lathe for now, so have to learn to do it with a smaller one.hopefully i'll get a bigger lathe soon.. i have bigger bigger blanks waiting for it.

@@jarkko.makkonen I kept watching local listings for sales. I’m in the same boat. I don’t have 10k for a big robust lathe My starter lathe is a 10” Harbor freight lathe which has been excellent to learn on. The other larger lathe I picked up was another cheap lathe ( Cummins) but had a larger bed (48”) and larger center (16”) other than how light it was, it has made some really cool things. Lol. I learned long ago that the lathe isn’t important, it’s the technique and the artistic vision. I’ve seen turners from very small countries that use an electric motor with a chuck attached to it that have made some absolutely beautiful bowls, platters, and vases. Sometimes their safety leaves something to be desired but that’s another story. Lol.

Lovely pot. I think it would have also made a stunning contemporary lamp base. A wide oversized shade in bright white would look great.

Cool looking cookie jar if you had used a sand o flex on the bark it would have cleaned it up and would have made it smooth like a baby's bottom
@jarkko.makkonen Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have planned to do dyi "sandoflex" to work like that.

You should never leave any barque on your work because it will rot and fall off.
@jarkko.makkonen Жыл бұрын
I disagree that. some situation that can be true but on this video with that same tree i have done many succesful projects with bark on.
