Thank you for the slow speed. I'm one of those that are teaching ourselves (by watching videos like yours) and, with the high speed that looks sooooo smooth...well, seeing your tool bouncing all over the place really helps me better guage how I'm doing...or at least gives me the ability to let the tool beat me up instead of just beating myself up over a lack of skill.

I probably have a ton of burl wood stacked away for fire wood. I never really gave it much thought to turn white oak burl since the stuff is harder than my head. That’s pretty darn hard. But now, I need to reconsider that line of thinking and give it a go to see what I come up with by turning a bowl of some sort. Guess I need to break out the chain saw and cut some burl wood from pieces that probably weigh as much as 200-250 pounds each. They are massive burls.

can't wait for the steady rests to be available. I need one for my Jet 1221vs. I barely use faceplates except for the last 2 turnings I have done making platters out of edge glued pine rounds that were purchased from a big box store (Menards) since that is what was demoed during one of our in person monthly demos for the club I am in.
