She's a beauty; the turquoise turned out prettier than I thought it would with the dark wood. Excellent job.

The white and yellow in the turquoise brings the wood and inlay together. Gorgeous

Thanks Rachel, I loved making this but the orange dust was everywhere 🤣

Beautiful. I love the contrast of the bright color of the “turquoise” against the wood grain.

Thanks, that wood has an amazing colour.

I think this is my favorite project of yours that I've seen so far. It looks like a little brook running around the rim. Sucks that the turquoise turned out to be imitation when you thought it was true, but honestly, the white does bring some really lovely contrast to the blue and orange.

Hi Mike Such a vibrant colour wood and the contrast of the turquoise makes for a beautiful piece. Goods things come out of Africa 🤭 Thanks for the video. Have a great evening 🙂

I think so too! The orange dust is a nightmare though 😂

I love the colour of padauk when the surface is freshly sanded or turned like at the 4min mark in the video. This does not last long though. UV causes it to quickly get darker, like the colour of the outside when you started. The padauk dust gets on everything. Good idea to use gloves. You may be disappointed with the inlay, but I love the contrast. Nice bowl. The fake stone will be easier to turn and sand than the actual gemstone. Consider getting some epoxy with low viscosity to use with the turquoise. A LOT of void to fill and CA is more expensive than epoxy. Perhaps choose a Milliput colour to mix with the turquiose. Padauk bleeds as you experienced. You need to see the entire surface to minimize the bleeding. The Padauk can still bleed when sanded after sealing if you have an open grain wood like oak or ash next to the padauk. I have a padauk board. I cut strips to use on a couple of projects for contrast. After seeing how fast the colour darkens, I now look at the board from time to time but then remind myself why I am not eager to use this species again. Dave.

Thanks so much for these comments Dave, very useful indeed. I love the contrast as well but was just gutted when I found out they were fake. I have some natural stone turquoise for next time and I'll make sure to set them below the rim :) Thanks as always Mike
