Good looking little lidded goblet. I always like to turn finials separately then add on at the last stage before final sanding & finishing. Once you glued your little blank in there you were stuck with no options. Turned out nicely. 👍
@TournageDubois2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I haven't done a lot of finials, so that's good to try next time!

Absolutely gorgeous, DD! Love redwood. Since it cannot really be harvested anymore, each piece tends to have a hundred year history which makes it even more special. Wonderful work. You really did that piece justice.

Beautiful, Daniel. Great idea and execution. Looks like that wood was chippy. I didn't see any strings of shavings. Take care. Bill
@TournageDubois2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bill. It wasn't too chippy, but really dry. Turned like cedar, so pretty dusty with no moisture in it.

Super nice. Did the finial break off? What you ended up with is lovely. Well done buddy. Miss seeing you in the chats. Thanks for sharing.
@TournageDubois2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Doug. The finial didn't break off, but the glue hadn't quite set up, so I added some more and let it set overnight, then just re-turned it. Held great that time. LOL

Really pretty! I admire turners who are so facile with a gouge. I would have used carbide-tipped tools. Also, why not apply the final finish while the work is still on the lathe? And I guess that hip-hop is not your go-to music!
@TournageDubois2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Sometimes I do apply the finish with it on the lathe, it just depends on what I use. I like all types of music, some I use softer music, some I use blues or rock, some techno/hip hop. Just like to have fun!

@@TournageDubois, oh good, I think it is the prettiest wood I've seen yet. I never get to see behind the scenes of turners videos and have never been in a turners shop, so I ask out of ignorance. I hope I didn't offend. May God keep Blessing your talented hands.

Why the music? spoiled your video mate
@TournageDubois11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. While I don't agree that it "spoiled" the video, it was a time in my process that I wanted music to produce a feel during them for the watcher. That phase passed a while back, and I haven't used music in a while.
