Woodturning platters remain my favourite pieces to turn on the lathe. I find it fascinating not only because each platter is like a unique piece of art when placed on the table, but also because it allows me to share something special with friends. Each platter holds a story in my mind, especially when I create a nice bead and a step down for the food to sit, framing the gift I'm about to share with someone special. I really hope you enjoy the video.
Cheers,
Kezza

Beautiful, classic form Kerry. Love the camphor laurel as well. Not sure on the POV camera view myself. On the one hand, I like seeing what you see, on the other, I get a little disoriented by the movement. Thanks for sharing, Stuart

Kezza!! Real good to see you back on the tools mate! That finger has near healed up, bro. One thing about being a creator there are so many ideas popping in yer head near all the time and this what makes it exciting - well it does for me. To see you experimenting with new video techniques is simply Bonza! I’m doing the same thing on my channel and the verdict still out for me as the numbers aren’t really telling me exactly what direction to follow. This video you have just done is a refreshing angle and it’s still early to see the results as you would know. Have to say I personally miss your voice and the whip sound effect when you have a hiccup lol. Mate, I’m one of your fans no matter what you put out. I await your next video with baited breath ! Cheers Johnno!

Cheers, mate! I really enjoy experimenting and am currently seeking an easier way to edit my footage. This should help streamline the process and allow me to release more videos. Thanks so much for the feedback, Johnno. I’ll definitely include some narration in the next one-adding a little more of me into it. It’s always nice to see your names in the comments section. Means a lot to me. Cheers, mate. Kezza

Great to see you back on the lathe Kerry. A beautiful choice for your return. What species of wood is that, I really like the grain.
@KerryCorney
@KerryCorney 9 ай бұрын
Thank you, Gerald. The timber is called Camphor Laurel. It’s quite invasive, taking over natural river courses and overshadowing the native flora. Consequently, we have an abundance of it. However, its beautiful grain pattern makes it ideal for turning projects. Cheers, mate. Kezza.

Hope the hand felt as good as it looked. Didn’t show any signs of tenderness. The perspective showing the hollowing was absolutely perfect. Flute angle and directionality was dead on. So tickled for ya big guy. Students are progressing great. I am thinking platters next so we have more shallow hollowing rather than bowls. What’s your thoughts on subject. Rod🫨
@KerryCorney
@KerryCorney 9 ай бұрын
Cheers, Rod! I believe platters serve as an excellent technique tester. They might find it a bit tricky if they go too thin. However, with constant checks of thickness and ensuring it’s not too thin to avoid chatter and warping, they’ll nail it! Thank you for the support, as always, mate. Kez.

Nice to see you back at the tool rest. I like the POV for the most part, except the moving around gives a lot of extra motion in the shots. I miss your discussion about the cuts you are making, the reasons why you are using a particular tool, what your goals are in turning the piece, and so on. A little talking and discussion would be nice.
