Challenge of the week: I'm using a bandsaw cut to profile the triangles into a near seamless hollow cylinder, but what is the name of the cut that changes the bevel angle from zero at the apex to say 16 degrees at the corners? It's not a compound cut.
@robcpwoodturner4 жыл бұрын
Acute? 🤔
@RayWhitbyCreations4 жыл бұрын
@@robcpwoodturner Hi Rob. The bevel angle varies along the side (3:41 in the vid); I guess they do fall into the acute angle range, but it's whether there's a name for ramping the piece through the cut in order to achieve this changin bevel angle? It probably doesn't matter what to call it I guess, but was thinking someone must have done this before.

@@RayWhitbyCreations Ouch, Missed that one and the small patch of blood on the clock face. Have you ever considered doing a voice over instead of text boxes as I found I had to re-watch bits due to missing things while reading the text. Just an observation and not a criticism. Huw
@RayWhitbyCreations4 жыл бұрын
@@WoodenItBeNice I possibly put too much content into the text on this one! Have thought about voice overs, but I know there are some viewers that like music, some that like machine sounds, some that like talking to the camera and some voice overs. Difficult to know what would work best. At the moment writing out the commentry means I can change it if needed, but I don't want it to be awkward for viewers either.

Hi Ray, Another great mesmerising video. I was allowed to make a suggestion I would hve used 12 pairs of triangles for the outside (5 minute spacing) and 30 degree triangles eminating from the centre. Keep the great videos coming and keep safe

@@RayWhitbyCreations Hi Ray, thinking about the clock face I would put a piece of dowel in the centre and then radiate 12 triangles around it, with the intention of cutting the triangles with arced (if that is a word) cut at one third distance from the point for 6 traingles and the remaining 6 at two thirds distance, this would give the appearance of a dart board with a staggered treble ring, I would still use resin in the designed gaps and possibly use 2 or 3 diferent types of wood, or rotate the grain Just a thought Keep safe
@Pu1gcerda14 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray, adding to my suggestion above you could make the "treble" rings the same radiur as the length of the hour and minute hands Keep safe
