Hi Jack, two questions. Do you "flame" a resin pour of that depth to remove bubbles? Second, do you seal the inside down to the bottom? To avoid any further drying or cracking from the inside. Tanks.
@JackMackWoodturning2 жыл бұрын
Hi John. Flaming the surface of a resin pour will clear the top and break the surface tension of any bubbles it makes contact with but will not effect bubbles blow the surface of the resin. On a piece that is due to be turned flaming is unnecessary as the outermost surface will most likely be turned away. If you pay attention to the placement of the glue holding the blank together Pryor to the resin pour you’ll see that it creates a full seal around both areas that receive resin. Hope that helps 👍🏻
@johnvargo56952 жыл бұрын
@@JackMackWoodturning Thanks, everything helps. Last thing I turned was a 42" wide table base (Outboard side of my Delta lathe head) and center column for a Hi-top kitchen table. Since then, texting drivers, caused 4 broken necks for me. I'm making arrangements to move my lathe to a more convenient location , as I no longer have use of my legs. These smaller projects appeal to me and the limited use I have of my arms. Stay tuned. Hahaha.

A lovely piece of work. The only thing is that he used CA glue to hold the wood together. I find CA glue has a short operating time, less than 2 years. It's becomes so brittle that it breaks even under light use.
