Thank you for your videos! I just bought this lathe and I'm trying to learn to use it. So it's super nice that this video is tailored to me. Do you have any experience using the bowl jaws for your clamping chuck? I see that WEN has them available, and am curious if I'm wasting $25. Thanks for the videos 👍

Thanks so much Kyler for watching! I have a set of bowl jaws, or Cole Jaws, but they are too big for my lathe. So I have not used them. I have been able to do everything I needed to do far without them. It may have made some things easier. $25 I'd not bad, but maybe wait tillyou have more experience to decide.

Nice little tutorial you have picked up a lot of info for somebody who has not been turning very long. your ( flange chuck ) is called a Face Plate and the drill chuck is called a Jacobs chuck but hey whats in a name if you continue to learn at this speed you will be turning hollow forms in no time. Please dont take this last comment as a criticism but you do always look like you rush through the finishing process if you spend a little more time sanding its surprising how much better a finished project can look.

@@BAILEYWOODWORKS I ended up buying the 2.75. I think it should do Nyle fine for what I need. Just got it yesterday and set up the machine today. I was wondering about the chuck that comes with it. I see people use screws to drill into the wood price, but no screws came with. Do you have to buy them separate?

@@toyotatrd screw should come with the jaw chuck. The only thing that came with my lathe was the faceplate. The screw chuck is designed for the specific diameter of the 2.75 jaw chuck.

Just look on Amazon for the WEN 3424t and LA4444 chuck. It with suggest a starter set of tools. That is all you need to start. Maybe a bench grinder for sharpening the tools would help also! The WEN 4280 looks really nice. I am trying to work on a affiliation with WEN. they have a really good probuct!

Yes, I messed that up sorry about that! I engineer a lot of machinery at my job and that what I would have called it, so i named it the first thing that came to mind!
