I love how the resin muted the colors in the shaving to pastel versions, yet the finished product has all the vibrancy of the original tinsel.

It's eyecatching in a kitchy late '60s - mid '70s way, but while the tinsel does attract my inner magpie, I can't help thinking where all that plastic dust and itty bitty pieces will eventually end up. Before I'm slammed by trolls with Greta Ginsburg jokes, microplastics in our food chain IS a real thing that is a much easier fix than CO². I'm sure this guy is responsible, but with every sweep of a broom or emptying of a shopvac that stuff escapes. Wood is an amazing material and so much more beautiful than epoxy kitch. And easier on the tools!

You need to vaccum out the air bubbles after pouring the epoxy resin

There is wood involved, just not in the final piece. So it can still be called wood turning. Don’t believe me? Watch the video again and see what gets glued to the bottom of the piece before it goes on the lathe.
