No. The lions are no longer wasting massive resources on such a menial position and have opted for a solid rotation. What you saw under Schwartz and Co. was one of the poorest built teams in lions history. They paid Suh more than any D tackle ever as a rookie. Then tried to win with a loser like Fairley. It was so backwards. People love to blame Calvin and Stafford for those teams. It was more paying 10M more than the next DT that really sunk them. It’swgy Mayhew meddled in suhs contract. You need not pay DTs that much. Just get a solid rotation. Holmes seems to get this.

Suh's rookie contact was before the last CBA, and regardless, he made the entire defense better. Their defense in '14 was the best defense of any Lions team ever since I started watching them when Barry came into the league. He made every player better, and he was worth every dollar they paid him.

That's how the front office is supposed to operate. You draft great, you're gonna have hard decisions. But then you just restock the roster through more great drafts and a free agent here n there
