This is a great contract. Back loading some of the cap hit, signing him now before he gets even more expensive next year. Holmes is hoping for the cap to keep jumping. Money spent now is better than saved for later.

I Brad Holmes a lot as a GM, you are giving him too much credit “ crippling” teams. He knew he had to have the salary cap for Sewell, st.brown and Goff.

Looks reasonable. Looks like the final year has no guarantees. And they could get out in 2027 with a sizable, but not crushing hit. Cost of doing business. And it isn't prohibitive, especially as the cap goes up. Think how his salary now looks cheap...

Jared Goff plays hurt. It's a $170 Million guaranteed. It's called math. Don't worry Jared Goff will be getting another contract from Lions in 3 years. Guess how much that will be?

It's a five year deal in essence. So he wouldn't extend in 3 year's but 4. In terms of the fully guaranteed money, it's $113.611 million at signing, and the practice guarantee bumps it up to $148.611 million. The fourth year of the deal, which hits in 2028, is an option year and $18 million of that will be fully guaranteed by the start of 2027.
