Best coverage of what’s important on this saw that’s on the internet - re: dust collection - you are right no saw is good on that really - yes experience is the best teacher - I should mention I just recently got this saw and I am glad to find I’m not alone in its appreciation.

(Note: English is not my First language) I have the same saw. I agreed with you 100% I love this saw !! It has only two "limitations" 1: As you said, The dust collection is not more the 50% with a shopvac collected (Festool is close to 99% but SOOO expencive & way to much fragile. 2: The changing blade procedure: the deseigner was probably drunk...

Great saw, I have one of the older models with the two straight pipes providing the forward movement and when I looked at yours it make me cry. It is so simple and gives up a lot of bench space that is important no matter how much room you have. I wish I had seen this when I bought mine.

I bought one of these as my first saw (even before my table saw) and haven't regretted it once. It is soooo accurate and clean with its cuts, and unlike my Dewalt that took 6 hours to adjust, the Bosch didn't need any adjustments straight out of the box. The only choking point was the price here in Australia, but it's still worth every cent.

I upgraded to this same saw from an old harbor freight 12 inch sliding miter saw that I got as a housewarming gift when I bought my first house. The Bosch saw is a different world in terms of quality. My father in law also has a Dewalt 12 inch miter saw that I use on a regular basis and the Bosch is by far my favorite. I gotta agree on the dust collection issue but you're always going to have that with a miter saw. I can say that the stock dust collection is at least better than the harbor freight saw but that's not saying all that much. Nice review Izzy!

I Love this saw! I am a Contractor and have been looking for a replacement for my old Makita. Was browsing yellow stickers at depot today and saw this saw on sale for $240.00! More than a 400 dollar discount. It was the display model so I had my son protect it while I went and got a manager to unbolt it for me. Along with my military discount I practically stole this thing. I mounted it to my awesome Rigid AC9941 Mitre saw stand and started making dust. Perfect straight cuts, super accurate single, and double mitre cuts. I cant wait to cut up some crown tomorrow. Thanks Home Depot!!!

It is amazing how buttery smooth the action is. I always give it a pull when I visit the store. I've heard a lot of really good things about the Festool Kapex but the Bosch is half the price of the Kapex. I remember reading in a review that the Kapex had the best dust collection but like you said, if you need really good collection, get a hood. It is nice to see both companies bring innovation to the miter saw market.

Thanks for the heads up on the saw I have the 1st generation DeWalt slider since it first came out and have kept it on the portable stand while always wanting to build a station but held back because of the wasted space the deep cabinet stole. The DeWalt has been a dependable saw but all good things come to an end. I have wanted(lusted) the Bosch saw since it came out but held back, the time has come to build a saw station so if I am going to spend big for the cabinet on the Jay Bates design I might as well save some space while I do it.

Great review, I've wanted one of these saw for years but I can't justify swapping my Makita. The one thing I don't like about my current saw is the depth needed behind it. It makes any sort of dust capture shroud huge. If I could buy that saw for anything like that price in the UK I'd do so tomorrow. A $ to £ conversion would be about £460 the best price I can find is £713!

I think Bosch reads you comment section. Then again it could have just been a luck that the 12V drill-brushed drill I bought recently dropped in price couple weeks after making a comment about price. Of course I got it. My first Bosch tool and really loving the trend towards compact and space saving. Not only does it have power, but it's also gentle on the lowest settings clutching out into plastic. I'm in Jamaica and after taxes and duty, compared to the Aussie, $900-$1300 is a price I would get from a supplier/importer for something of that caliber. I also have to say the saw does well for your shop decor. Doesn't pull away from the green and orange at all.

I have this saw and I love it. Went from a piece of junk Harbor Freight that was barely good enough for rough cutting a 2x4 to this. Felt like trading in a Kia for a Cadillac.
@cybercapri8 жыл бұрын
Agreed, it's a great saw, but out of my price range so I went with the Ridgid 12" sliding miter. They are both very top of the line with limited lateral movement and when I checked each at the Home Depot, it just seemed to me that Ridgid had a bit less lateral movement. Granted this could have been a ton of different variables as to why. I purchased my Ridgid in 05, before the BOSCH was invented, but once I seen the BOSCH was released did check it out at the store for a future upgrade or if space restrictions required. The other saws just had way too much lateral movement, extremely noticeable movement simply pulling the arms out and chopping. Now add a work piece into the mix and I am here to say the other saws will move more than the wood. If you are doing rough framing where 1/32" is meaningless and 1/4" is acceptable, save your money and pick another brand. But if accuracy is required, or simply wanted, you won't go wrong with either saw, the BOSCH or Ridgid. My Ridgid is over 10 years old, working on 11 years now, and I am here to say I've never had to adjust it one time. It was mounted on the MS-UV, Miter Saw Utility Vehicle, and transported up and down stairs through out a myriad of job-sites over the past decade. The rails are not marred and the belts have not been replaced, nor do they require replacement. Sure the saw slipped a few times when I tried to cut too thick of material at a way too fast rate, other saws would have stalled. The MS-UV is like a small Aircraft Carrier and is the largest of my portable tools but does store on it's side only taking up a 2' x 3' foot print while on it's side. When fully expanded it can easily handle 16 ft two by material with ease; I've constructed many decks in the past. Cheers Izzy...

Tips. Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / HITACHI C12RSH2 / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). If you want you can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick. To this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw. Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-4. therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blade. Conclusion: how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing.(don't go for that).

Where do you find the zero clearance tape?
@mccosha5 жыл бұрын
hey, have you figured out that you don't need the tape and can adjust the kerf inserts can be adjusted to different blade widths? you do not need tape on this miter saw - just loose the screws and slide the inserts in to match the blade you're using. also... the diablo blade is not 12 inches, even though it says it is - you can't get the full 12" cut with that blade - compare it to the bosch blade that came with the saw and you will notice it's almost 11 1/2 inches

If I want to make lots of boxes, This would be the baby to get correct? Your miters that you showed on the boxes looked so dead on. I have a dewalt 7491RS contractors table saw and can't seem to build a good enough cross cut sled for it. It rips great, but I really need something very accurate for my cross cuts. I think this will fit the bill. I was going to get the incra miter 1000 and the miter sled but after watching this.. I'll pass. I want to make lots of boxes and small tables, this would be so great.
