Do you happen to have a video or timelapse of the production of your beeauuutiful cigar mold? Did you carve it by hand?
@CatharsisCigars4 ай бұрын
I'm planning to make a video of my process next time I make a mold. I'm using a little table top 3018 CNC.

Can i use burley and Virginia to make a cigar???

I am super interested in you. Where are you from? How the heck do you know how to roll cigars so well? How do you have access to all the specific tobacco leaves needed to do it? It doesn't seem like an easy thing to just pick up as a hobby.
@CatharsisCigars6 ай бұрын
You can buy tobacco leaves online (For example wholeleaftobacco.com). I also grow some myself. If you're on Facebook, check out the Cigar Rollers group; it's pretty active.

Can we not weigh the tobacco as per the standard size?
@CatharsisCigars7 ай бұрын
We could. I find that doing it by the feeling of the bunch in your hand gives better results.

Looks awesome, how did you make the mold? I definitely want to try making some.
@CatharsisCigars6 ай бұрын
I designed it in Fusion, cleared some material with a drill press, then gave it the final shape using a little Chinese 3018 table top CNC. At some point I may make a video (or a series) on how I make these.
@geoffrey60006 ай бұрын
@@CatharsisCigars Interesting. Yeah I was thinking it could be done by drilling two identical holes and turning one into the base and the other into the top. Would be difficult to do it completely by hand though.

How did you make it!!
@orion77415 ай бұрын
thats a really nice looking mold, but those walls on the top piece are wayyyy too thin. you will find that they are going to start cracking and breaking off after just a handfull of cigars. next molds you make, you should make those walls around 3/32" or even 1/8" thick. that is the standard thickness of professionally made cigar molds made out of wood. the molds take a tremendous amount of pressure and abuse during the pressing and repeated opening and closing. It is a wonderful first mold though!! would love to see your process in making it.

So far, no cracking or breaking. I've modeled this based on the many professional wooden molds I have in my collection. I'll show more of my process in a video in the future.
