Truly aspirational video. The only thing to consider is your outdoor project videos make it feel like anyone can do it (I have thanks to you), but I don’t have most of the tools you just used. Just something to consider when choosing projects while expanding your reach. Awesome as always!!

Videos like this are exactly what I personally need more of. I can follow directions and reproduce things pretty damn well, but I lack the vision and knowledge of joinery at this time to envision something from scratch and make it happen. I found you years ago wanting to do concrete countertops (only tried the bathroom so far and they turned out great!) and am excited to learn more about woodworking too!

Great job. Best DIY workbench I've seen. Spurs more ideas. I think I would've added a solid pine flush edge to the entire top for a finished look and more durable than MDF

I can’t tell you how bad I wanted to add a hardwood edge around the top and laminate it after and then router a soft bevel… but I knew I couldn’t complicate the video anymore than I already had since I was going for quick and easy for the viewers sake. But man that would have looked great. I did that on my router station top and I love it

@MichaelBuilds with all the joinery you did (awesome job btw), the edge wouldn't be that hard. I would laminate like you did but not bevel the edge. Then add the edging and flush rout the edging to the top. I definitely follow your site and am contemplating pouring a concrete overlay on my not so level floor

You table top is my favorite part. It's more practical and easier to replace if needed. Have you considered running an outlet to the front of your table. If you do, I'd recommend a marine grade one with a cover to keep dust and liquids out in case a resin or cement project springs a leak.

Having worked with laminate a lot at a cabinet shop, you can use lacquer thinner to disolve the contact cement and remove the laminate.

12:52 Michael I always love your work, I am always so impressed. I need something for storage on the walls of my workshop. Can you think about maybe making something like that? Anything storage would be great for workshop improvements/ modifications. I have a more limited spare workshop. I made a portable/rolling work bench i csn also use as a feed for my saws. To help with space, I also made folding work benches on the walls. I've seen slat style walls with adjustable shelves, boxes, drill & battery storage, etc.. I'd love to see some easy ideas for these.

What a great looking piece. I hope you’re happy with it. I particularly like that you’ve used mortise and tenon joints throughout, rather than it being another build using pocket holes (I don’t have a problem with pocket holes, but it was nice to see what you did instead). Keep up the good work, keep making the videos, and enjoy what you do. Oh, and that jig - I’ve never seen that and I think it’s fantastic. I’ll certainly be giving that a go myself.

Excellent bench! Hopefully the perimeter edges of the MDF hold-up over time. I think I might have glued a thin strip of maple (any hard wood) around the edge of the bench top to keep the MDF from getting beat up. 🙂

when i do laminated tops, i put down plastic and then line up the top. stick down one end and slowly roll the plastic back as i go. never had a misstick since i switched to that method. a lot more idiot friendly, which is great for me.

Like custom drawer pulls or something 🤷‍♂️ Could you make the knobs out of concrete and coat them with dyed epoxy so they look like concrete jewels? Just a thought, I'll stop rambling now 😅
