have never seen/heard of this shelving system. some nameless carpenter 100 years ago came up with it, never thought of posting it on youtube or I would know all about it. great narration, photography and humility

Haven't seen this "old" idea for easily adjustable (though a bit time consuming prep) shelving in the past or in any other blogs or videos... Fun presentation and film work. Thank you for posting! If no wall studs available, 90% of the time I use pop-toggles, which I feel are much more secure and durable than standard" mollies, while still being very affordable [you do need to know your drywall thickness for these]. I'd recommend using these instead. I have designated pants and shorts as well as about 4 (!) T-shirts and a very beat up sweatshirt from circa 1990, LOL, that are my designate painting & reno clothes. If you're a home owner or, like, me also enjoy doing part-time "professional" small home repair and renovation work, designating a set of clothes is essential.

I love your quip about metric loving viewers. I moved from the UK in 1967 to Australia. So, we had to adjust from Imperial measurements to Metric. It was hard at first, but we did manage after a some time. Incidentally, it was illegal to sell measuring tapes or rulers with both Metric and Imperial for a number of years in Aussie. My guess is, they wanted people to adjust to using metric and the imperial rulers were not allowing this transition. It is not like this today and you can quite readily purchase both measuring systems on the one tape or ruler. keep up the great projects. That was a 'Small Smiling Child' you used. Ha! Ha!

This is brilliant. Im about to put a storage area into my basement and was having trouble deciding on how I was going to arrange the shelves to support the myriad of crap we own and continue to rotate in and out on a regular basis. This seems like the perfect solution. I am only slightly sad that the cedar got covered with paint, however the price was right! :)

Ha. I saw those sawthooth thingies just yesterday in the home improvement store and puzzled about them - they were stored with the decorative moulding...seemed like an unlikely design to me 😁 Now I know, what they are for!
