Hola! 🖐Really cool sign and thanks for demonstrating that if can still be done without the assistance of Skynet. The added touch of giving it that "rustic" look was a great touch. Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊

Drew, you are absolutely my favorite creator! Your humor is so awesome, and what you did to create that sign was awesome. I have never thought about using a trim router in place of a CNC machine but you did it and totally demystified it for us all. Thank you so much for again sharing a hilarious and informative video!

Great work. If you have some FOMO about the robot apocalypse, you should check out the MPCNC. It's great for tinkerers and it would crush that lettering. I think there's someone who's about to figure out a good way to combine hand tools, power tools and CNC in a great workflow.

After having made quite a few signs, ,some things that made it easier for me. (maybe you're already aware). On soft pourous woods like pine, sanding sealer first will stop the bleeding. Also, if there's any intricate lines to 'rout, (only on a laser printer) printing it in mirror image, then ink side down on the wood and secure it. saturate the paper (where there's print) with lacquer thinner (will evap quickly) and rub in with a rounded side of wood or plastic. This will leave a very decent image on the wood to follow with the router. Hope this helped someone. :) Your sign came out REALLY nice!

Try coating the board with sanding sealer before sanding and applying the stencil to help stop the paint bleeding.

Drew........even though I've done some sign carving, I still picked up a couple of good tips here. You're right about how to best grip the router. I added this base to mine:: www.makeawoodsign.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=6&product_id=93 But you could easily make one yourself, or even add handles to your existing base plate if there's enough room. It really helps A LOT! Your first sign looks a lot better than the ones I'm doing after some experience. Well Done.. That''s a good tip about feeding a scrap 2 x 4 ahead and behind the board you're thickness planing. I'll remember that. Even if one of your projects isn't my cup of tea, I still watch your videos all the way through because you're so entertaining. I hope you make more of them. Thanks.

A couple years ago, I was reading a story by a lady recounting her hike of the Appalachian trail. One day, feeling a poop coming on, and following Leave No Trace guidelines, she walked 200’ from the trail, downhill, and started preparing. Just as the blessed event had started, a hiker greeted her from less than 10’ away! Turns out the trail made a 180 degree turn as it descended the mountain, and she had essentially taken a 200’ shortcut to poop right beside the trail she tried not to poop beside! Ha!

You know, I had to laugh at 4:50 when you start adding imperfections to make the sign look rugged and old .. since you started the project with rugged and old boards but then sawed or planed off anything that looked rugged, or old ...

I saw what a bear paw with claws does to a bathroom door at a campsite and realized I would never use a tent in bear country again. Bears are not attacking the signs just trying to get them down to take back to their cave.
