Great looking jig. I am thinking it probably took at least an hour to sand out that gouge with the setup. Bet you wish you had a machine to grind off all that metal instead. I would only use this jig to sharpen lightly warn knives.

I read on the Vernier, one side is 37,4 mm and the other 36,9 mm. Quite a big difference !

Разница слева и справа 0,5 мм. Это много. Выставлять ножи нужно с помощью индикаторной головки, относительно рабочего стола. Тогда и погрешность будет минимальной.

I need to do this with both my planer and jointer. Not sure my planer knives are adjustable though. I think they fit over a peg to try to make it so I buy new knives every time.

Well I learned one good tip at school about these knifes - one nip is no reason to grind them just move noe knife to side by with of the nip and good to go... Save time and knife...

I have tried to make that jig but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Does the wood have to be a certain size? I have a 13 " Ridgid planer that I'm tired of buying blades for. After the first cut do you raise the blade on the second cut after you move the fence toward the saw blade?????

Your thickness should be constant. The first saw is the part where the saw blade is placed. The second saw is the cut area.

@@망치소리HammerSound Does the Width of the planer blade matter? I have tried 1¼" and 1½"sq stock I have my saw blade at 40° and I think my planer blades are ⅝" wide....... I'm thinking it must depend on where I make my first cut so I have enough of the blade showing to sharpen Thanks for acknowledging my dilemma I think you have a great idea but I am stumped any insight would be greatly appreciated Ben

This is a terrific stop gap if you're in a bind, short of a fresh set of knives. I'm not thrilled about the jigs' use w/that third knife, (you'd always have one knife, albeit very slightly, w/less steel) and I wouldn't be utilizing this method to frequently sharpen machine knives - perhaps you could alternate the rotation of the knives in the order they're ground to eventually get the (3) the same ? Awesome demonstration, thanks so much for your time & forethought. 👍
