Playing a guitar that you created is probably one of the most satisfying things in the world. I cannot tell how this unique design contributes to the sound of this guitar, but it's beautiful for sure.

Nice work, lot's of neat ideas that I will be stealing! Especially the "flying" brace and the tuned ports. The lute style top brings a tight midrange and treble similar to the "00"s and must simplify the build process. Your solution for the "upper bout" is genius !
@slicwood2313 жыл бұрын
Yeahh the flying brace was a wild card, and ended up complementing that dry mid range focus of the lute shape like you mentioned. I deff recommend the tuned ports, they were fun and add some wild characteristics. Thanks!

Very nice! I think you succeeded in proof of concept. The bass is strong, but not boomy, just crisp and tight. And the treble is clear and round. That sure is some pretty wood, too. Nice axe all around. When I was watching the beginning I thought you were building a cittern. And really, if you make one of those strung with 4 or 5 courses and leave off the fake upper bouts, you'll have a super-cittern. My mind tends to go that way cuz cittern has been my main axe for some decades, even though I started music on Classical guitar in '69.

Yes, I know a skilled craftsman that attempted a solid body strat out of burl wood. He ended up needing help; it weighed a ton and wasn't all that enjoyable to play. But I guess kudos for effort.

@@slicwood231 Anytime, and thanks for the splendid design ethic! I am a restoration luthier (when my hands allow it), and ordinarily don't care so much for strut/lattice designs on acoustic guitars, but this is wonderful!
@slicwood2313 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! The strut certainly changes the characteristics of the top, And I can totally see how one could easily destroy an otherwise responsive guitar haha

One of these days I'm going to build a archtop parlor guitar shaped like an A style mandolin. I really believe there is something acoustically special about that shape of resonance chamber. I really like your concept of skeletonized wings to give it the ergonomics of a traditional acoustic while maintaining the unique tone of the teardrop body and soundboard.
