What a shame! Here's obviously a master of his craft, demonstrating and describing his work, and all we get is a robot voice talking pretty much nonsense. Couldn't we have a translation of the workers actual words? Voice over or subtitles either one would have added rich content.

You should get out more often. There is a book written about joints over a hundred years ago ,by Paul Hasluk . Many joints usedi inIT are much older than that am USED in European cabinetry . THE Japanese joints are excellent but are NOT the only joints used by master carpenters, This man is not so much a cabinet maker as box builder due to its minuscule sizing.

It is obviously a miter plane used on a miter shuting board and NOT the standard bench plane.
