Not gonna lie, the DGX670 is one of my most favorite instruments just because its both easy to play and sounds fantastic. The built in effects chain is actually quite formidable, only really being limited by not being able to be routed to the external audio input. Being able to use this as a bluetooth speaker is pretty cool, but I would have preferred being able to use my bluetooth headphones with it. How come they STILL won't put proper headphone jacks on the front of these things? Besides that stuff, this has stunning piano sounds, and the max polyphony is outstanding at 256 notes. I do really REALLY wish I could have used an expression pedal with this one...perhaps next gen?
@WoodyPianoShack5 ай бұрын
thx for the insights, yeah agree!
@michaelwilliamson2484 ай бұрын
No keyboard by any manufacturer at any price supports Bluetooth headphones. The technology has too much latency for live play. (The synch is automated for pre recorded playback for video etc) You have to use a wireless audio transmitter for realtime play
@Dbentzjr4 ай бұрын
@@michaelwilliamson248 Actually I do believe that the Yamaha PSR SX900 supports bluetooth headphones wirelessly. Maybe I read it wrong, but I was going to buy that but I chose the DGX 670 instead for the full size piano. Still wish it had that frontal headphone jack though. You are asolutely correct about the latency though, thats why I never bother with MIDI over pc, I can't stand that delay.

I love your VIdeos and am always happy when a new one appears. Big praise for your channel and your friendly manner. I'm still at the very beginning and have only been playing the keyboard for a few months. May I ask how you always manage to improvise well-known pieces of music? Do you write out the chords beforehand and learn the melody patterns?
@WoodyPianoShack3 ай бұрын
hi and thanks for the comment! i do need to listen to the song carefully to figure out the chords, I either try to memorize right away or write them down, then memorize if more complicated. i often know the melody alread and am fortunate to just be able to play it by ear without much difficulty. hitting the right chords in the right order is the challenge. but it takes years of practice but don't let that put you off, good luck!

My dream would be for an instrument with the touch of this one with the sound quality of Korg with some of the insanity from an Arturia (and perhaps some legacy Roland sounds to keep people happy). It is a very easy instrument to play this one!

Since this does not have a Midi connection, what do you use to connect to a mixer or audio interface?

you don't want to connect to mixer or audio int with midi anyway, but the idea here is that you connect direct to PC for midi and audio over usb

Hi Woody! Great video, a pleasure to watch, as usual! Those piano samples sound really good. Also, for no particular reason, it looks awesome in white. How does it sound to you through the speakers in relation to your P-121 digital piano? All the best, Tunka
@WoodyPianoShack5 ай бұрын
thanks! have not done direct comparison, but I am entirely satisfied with the speakers, i play it only at 11 oclock so lots of headroom, good bass and treble. perhaps a touch harsh on some drum sounds, but loud and punchy!
@antunkatona56745 ай бұрын
@@WoodyPianoShack That’s really interesting! I heard a few keyboards with similar speaker specs/setup and they sounded somewhat tinny. This is why your reviews are so valuable! It might have to do with the fact that the DGX-670 is a big instrument so even if the speaker diameter isn’t big or the amplifier isn’t particularly powerful, perhaps it is the speaker chambers and bass ports that make the difference. As for the drums, well, speakers are typically one of the more expensive parts of the instrument and tweeters in particular can be somewhat poor which, of course, means that cymbals can sound harsh. Perhaps there’s an EQ onboard so you could try decreasing the 6-8 kHz range and see if that makes a difference. But all in all, from what you’ve told me, I’ve gathered that the speakers are actually surprisingly good for a budget instrument. All the best, Woody, and keep up the great work! Cheers - Tunka

the cord is very generously long actually and with the block in the middle. you can always buy a mains extension cable if needed.

People, do you have ears? The colors of the Yamaha instruments are good, but all the instruments sound thin. Compare the sounds directly to Roland instruments, and you'll get it right away. What is the result of that? You need to put 100 instruments in a song, so that it doesn't sound hollow and empty and unmusical !!!🙃 BY THE WAY, Yamaha has been selling the same sounds for over 20 years. Listen to their Clavinova CVP-307 from 2003.
