The song is basically about how he realized looking back that he lost who he was but decides to think about it like a journey instead where the past selves are still with him. He might loose himself again when on this journey but the real him will still be intact within him. Its also about how how you might have a hard time outside, but you always come home to your real self which is hidden. He urges to put the troubles aside when experience new things, bumping into new people etc and when you return home you can find yourself again.
