I got mine when he was 7 weeks old. He’s so spoiled but he’s the best. He’s currently 11.2 pounds and is 9 months. His mother died and our friend couldn’t afford to pay for all of them and didn’t have the time so he gave them away to people he knew would take care of them. His mom had a litter of 6 and he was the only boy.

I have always wanted a yorkie puppy but they are too expensive. I had a Shih Tzu, he was a beautiful tan and white, 15 lbs, he was my everything. He passed in February of this year, from Cancer. His name was Simba, he would have been 14 years old on July 20th. I had him cremated and his ashes sit on my dresser, plus I have a cremation pendant that I wear. This is a lovely video 😊

We had a shih tzu also. He was 15 yrs old and also had cancer, was deaf and blind. We spoke to ppl who also had a shih tzu, and their older dogs were also blind and deaf. Seems like genetically they are prone to that.

Tell your parents they are super clean and shed no hair at all just like human hair and they dont make noises and they will fall in love with them and get 3 once they get one...hope this helps

Important thing not mentioned! Some dogs only "imprint" on small number of people. Yorkies are one. They can only imprint on 1-3 people. So what that means: People they consider "not their owners" They will not trust, won't listen to, doesn't want to interact with in general. So If I leave and have my brother care of my yorkie. She will stay in the corner laying down. Will not eat, will not play, will not move until I get back. Even if the other human is very nice, has treats etc... Also they are smart, I can teach my yorkie a new trick right now if I wanted to she would start picking it up immediately and have it down in a couple days. But no one else can teach her anything. She just wont "get it" if some one else tries to teach her.

I like small Yorkies. They are usually a little healthier also. Shih tzus are known to have seizures. I’ve met both mean and nice shih tzus, but only nice yorkies. So their temperament is probably similar. I just like the look of a yorkie as well.

I own a yorkicresent he absolutely resembles a yorkie more than anything super stubborn and clingy loves affection and attention 24/7. He cries when we don’t take him with us everywhere. Sometimes we can’t take him he’ll sit there and pout cause he doesn’t get a car ride so when we get back we take him for a ride around the block. 🥺y’all about spoiled he goes for a ride everyday lol.😂

Yes. My yorkie is extremely clingy. Follows me everywhere i go inside the house. He’s like my shadow. When i sit at my desk for hours, there he will lick my feet until he gets tired and sleep. When i go for few days trip, my mother find it hard to force him away from the door. He waits for me there and never eats until he cant stand the hunger. I always return home and find him at the same spot where i left.

My shih tzu Cocco is a medical alert service animal and was easier to train than all of the German Shepherds I grew up with. My uncle was a dog trainer and we would foster Shep's for 3 yes about. By the time my Cocco was 6 months old he was brilliant he had all of the behaviors down 100%. He is currently 13yrs old n the vet says his health is great n will probably live easy another 5+yrs.

Hi, the black and white dog is a Shichon, also called a Teddy Bear dog. I raised that breed for years. A Shihtzu has a flat face, almost no snout area. I currently own a porkie lol (poodle and yorkie)... I can say this one is way more active and playful. She doesn't really bark, she just whines when she wants something. The Teddy Bear dog is posable and also hilarious. The Shihtzu is a bit more stubborn but a great pet.. you have to do their hair like twice a week though. Also, Shichons are hypoallergenic. Anyway, happy pet owning :)

Most of the Shih Tzus I have seen loves to play with anyone they come across, they definitely enjoys playing and wouldn't turn down bully rubs or cuddles but also spends good amount of time chilling in their own zone!

Yorkies and Shih Tzus often gets clingy, you can encourage her to play with toys so she'll have sometime to entertain her and keep her busy when she's by herself, basically teaching them to be a little independent. ignore her when she's behaving bad.. likewise show love when she's being soft and loving, this will show her what's right and wrong. Although there are plenty of methods to train them, one key factor that always remain is teaching them with love rather than scolding or hitting. You are correct, Shih Tzu is a lovely breed, like a Lhasa Appso, BUT the Yorkie takes the biscuit (we call it a treat.....),. We have Two Wonderful pets, Dolly & Buster (sister & brother), Lhasa & Yorkie cross (think they are now known as 'Larkies... ?', now age eight, like two Brilliant kids, so playful, so much FUN.

Oh yes, Yorkies are hyper and won't give up until they get what they want! Teaching them to be a little independent can make it easier to manage, I.e them playing with their toys and being occupied by themselves in a non destructive manner whenever left alone. As for their demands I've learned to work around it, I'm not a morning person but my Yorkie is, so I wake and give him his food and take him for potty after which I go back to sleep 😅 It is challenging but I guess that's something very important dogs teaches us, to love and make efforts even when it seems tough, just as they do for us 😊

Both these breeds are pretty good for first time owner! I'm a first time owner and I have a yorkie, although I have faced few challenges like potty training him etc, I still would highly suggest both these breeds.
