The male Wool Carder Bee is not to be trifled with. A visit to his patch is a sure way to end up in the grave.

The soft Scottish voice is so relaxing haha. I can't help but wonder how they luck out to have their cameras pointed in the right spot at the right times. Particularly at such close zoom and wide aperture.

I see them in my garden pollinating the mugworth everyday. I'm so fascinated by how observant and swift they are. And yes, they are VERY territorial. They even nip at the grasshoppers. lol

woolcarder bees do not usually kill other bees. I've spent hours watching them on my lavender, and I've never seen any bee not fly off, upset, but perfectly healthy.

I have lavender & I HAVE actually seen them harm other bees by knocking them onto the ground. It’s also not ok that they are hoarding the nectar from & scaring off other pollinators, driving them to seek out other nectar sources when sources are already limited & being depleted at an alarming rate

That lamb's ear also makes for pretty decent toilet paper in a pinch.

Thanks for this! My days of using nettles are over!

+Team Candiru Haha, can't say I've ever used nettles. I've used sticks, rocks, and even snow but that lamb's ear is as good as Charmin.

The way the Wool Carders hover around and observe is pretty awesome.

I love these guys lol, a few years ago there was a male one who had a patch of salvia in my yard. I love how aware of their surroundings and active they are. I might make a patch of lamb's ear to encourage them to stay

Would it also sting or attack a human if it entered it's territory?
@TeamCandiru8 жыл бұрын
+Meriç Arslan Good question, the answer is no. Interestingly they don't actually sting. The bee that did the attacking is a male and male bees don't have stingers. Instead they have three sort of spines or mini antlers on the tip of their abdomen that they use to attack with. Thanks for commenting!

+Team Candiru Will the bee try surprise anal on me? Thanks for answering.

+casey downs interestingly enough there is a type of fabric softener that mimics bee sex pheromone. So yeah maybe...
