These are excellent tutorials and just what I needed. I was using synthetic dreads but they were shredding my real hair. I think wool will be much more natural and protective. My husband has real dreads that I started for him and maintain myself. I am not ready to take the leap to real dreads. But I love dread extensions. I can’t wait to make my own. ❤

I'm happy to hear these are so Helpful! Braid-ins are fun in so many ways if you aren't quite ready to commit to real locs.

@@hollysdreadfulcolors187 I do have so many questions. Wash with them in okay? Dying with henna after felted okay? So many questions. But I would be super grateful if just those two were answered. Also every response is an algorithm boost. I know the game. Want to show my support. I also watched the commercials in full. But.., I’m not sure if KZbin will give that too you as you are not at 1k right. I can get you some subs too. 😁👍
@hollysdreadfulcolors1878 ай бұрын
@@theoccultlifemedia yes, I'm not quite at 1k so I havent made any income from my videos. When I started out, I wasn't even sure if I'd get any Lol so I'm not making the videos for money but I wouldn't turn it away if I got to that point either! More subscribers would be awesome. Okay so to answer you questions, yes you can wash these with regular water and shampoo. Acid dye is what works best on wool fiber. Hair dye will fade very quickly and may not even catch the color you are wanting, so I don't recommend Henna hair dye...but they are your woolies and you can certainly give it a try! (And tell me how it goes) I do appreciate the comments and what it brings to my channel but I'm also fine if you message me on my FB business page facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090641751968&mibextid=ZbWKwL with more questions and I can give more detailed answers.

@@hollysdreadfulcolors187 Thank you!!! I do use henna in my own hair. It’s quite staining and doesn’t fade… may darken over time. But I wanted to make sure that was the correct step and wouldn’t undo the felting. Sweet I’ll add your Facebook page too.

@@theoccultlifemedia hmm I haven't tried Henna, but I have a friend who would know about chemical reactions and stuff...I'll ask and let you know.

Hi, what is your board that you roll on made of?

Following this colour combining tutorial and others you’ve done I have completed a set of double ended ombré dreads this weekend ❤ I have absolutely no idea if they will hold well or stand for the general day to day wear 😂 but I’ve hot dipped and rolled the wool 4-5 times to ensure they’re tight and well dreaded. So fingers crossed. They’re currently hanging up in the same room as my tumble dryer while it’s drying clothes, so will hopefully dry nice and quickly. Because I’m excited to get them in my hair!!! Thanks again for your tutorials. Couldn’t have done it without them

Great vid, thanks! I scour raw wool and process it. Just got into wearing pure wool locs and luv it. What about that rubbery mat used in the kitchen cabinets to lay dishes on for under your towels to provide non slid?🤷🏻♀️🤘🏻. Thx for making videos... luv your laid back style and generous info you give

What pad do you use to roll the dreads on? I’m having such s hard time finding something they won’t slip around on.

I would definitely do a soak in hot/soapy water and roll once more very firmly (depending on how felted you'd like it to be)

The soapy spray you have, how much soap and which kind do you use?
@hollysdreadfulcolors187 Жыл бұрын
I fill it 2/3 with warm/hot water..then just a drip or two of dawn dish soap. Shake it up! You can also use grated bar soap. I used to use olive oil soap. I just ran out one day and started using the dish soap instead since I always have that around lol
@neshatimmins273711 ай бұрын
Why do you need to put dish soap on the dreads?
@hollysdreadfulcolors18711 ай бұрын
@neshatimmins2737 So the combination of hot water and soap help felt the wool. The more soap the better honestly! You don't need to use dish soap, other soaps work too
@neshatimmins273711 ай бұрын
@@hollysdreadfulcolors187 do you wash out the soap after and I’m assuming you can wash your hair with the wool dreads in?
@hollysdreadfulcolors18711 ай бұрын
@@neshatimmins2737 going through the felting process usually rinses the soap out without any additional steps. Yes, you can shampoo your hair with the wool in 😊

Nice Where do you buy your wool?
@hollysdreadfulcolors187 Жыл бұрын
I mainly buy wool off Etsy. The shops vary depending on what kind of wool I'm looking for. All types of wool have natural textures, bumpy, wavy, knobby/kinky..so I buy depending on what I'm making. MohairandMore is one shop (also a.website) BeesyBeeFibers and HearthsideFibers are my favorites. As a beginner you can get some good quality Corriedale (bumpy) off Amazon with a company called Kondoos. $25 for a lb. Good starter wool
