open world rpg and animu are terrible ideas. The you try you will fail to meet expectations. As is the nature of narratives made through piece meal lore. So I conclude the world of GG are full of literal imbeciles.
@ANPC-pi9vu4 жыл бұрын
@@ceresbane But that is exactly what Elder Scrolls fans loved about Elder Scrolls lore, and it is mostly an open world RPG series. It was at it's best when most of the lore was gleaned from npcs of rival alignments giving you their version of the truth, and lore books that often contradict each other at points or are fictional works within the fictional world. That is how lore should work because that is how what we call 'reality' and 'knowledge' also works in the real world.

@blue6sub6remnant64 жыл бұрын
@Malum You make a fair number of points that I agree with. Woolie's presentation is more digestable and just plain better in terms of straight quality (once he patches the audio). And having the audience of basically hecklers that you need to mentally turn off does kind of gate the PCP experience. But I'll say this, I respect Oliver for trying to tell a hostile audience a story that he wanted to tell. For trying to tell the world that "this story is interesting*" when no other content with comparable reach or depth was being created on youtube. Woolie can dial up the Guilty Gear lore team on moments notice for the best info, that's true. But it wasn't until what I only understand as a sponsorship, because that's what the description says, was achieved by Woolie did he decide that his platform was worth telling the Guilty Gear story on. Don't get me wrong, I think Woolie LOVES Guilty Gear, as game to be played. I believe that Woolie will give his usual 200% when putting this story out there. What I don't think, is that he would have done this without some sort of impetus, i.e. the sponsorship. Woolie will do this well, I'd bet money on that. Additionally, Woolie will talk about fight games for passion's sake alone, we know this too be true from everything he did pre-TBFP, and that passion, that "I want to do this because I am internally motivated to do so," strikes a chord with me. Am I making any sense or not really?

@@blue6sub6remnant6 While I totally get you, don't forget that this is the same guy who will take any chance he can get to talk about GG lore on the podcast before getting reeled in by Pat. Just looking at the presentation alone, I can easily tell that this is something Woolie has wanted to do but, as he frequently expresses, was always too afraid to do in fear of getting harsh negative feedback. We all know by now how much that affects him. If anything, I'm betting this is a Ghost of Tsushima situation, where Woolie would have done it down the line, but the sponsorship gave him a reason to get started right away. i've watched this like 8 times already. it's so well done and interesting. the way you laid out the information and the presentation is fantastic! i never knew the world of guilty gear was so fascinating, cool, and rich in detail. here's hoping there are some more of these on the way.

21:37 Heads up. This is outright incorrect. Justice did not discover Sol was a Gear until their final encounter at the end of the Second Holy Order Knights Recruitment Tournament and did not attempt to control him in the battle where Sol incapacitated her which lead to her being sealed. Justice also did not give Sol the nickname "Flame of Corruption". That was Raven although the exact encounter the two had is ambiguous as to when it happened.
@kyuketsukirook4 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too.
@SoyElBrokas4 жыл бұрын
No actually justice won the battle but was in a really bad shape and she did find that sol was a gear during the fight and try to control sol but fail during her confusion they were able to seal justice
@iker-jk20964 жыл бұрын
Are you sure about the gear thing? I remember that she did discovered before the tournament, and then checked the wiki and in Justice page it says that she finded out in the battle before they sealed her. But then again, the new web comic makes it look like she discovered in the tournament

In Justice's story in Vanilla XX, she finds out Sol is a gear during their fight in 2175 before Ky seals her.

@@DrEarthwormRobotnik It's not canon. There's actually a lot of stuff in the X2 series (#R and AC+) that has kind of a weird canon status. It's a bit of a mess so I don't anyone for making this mistake but when you hear about "GG Retcons" most of them come from the X2 series.

So uhhh.... I'm not the only one who didn't forget about that y2k divine will thing right? That was fucking terrifying, A+ with the chanting edit, really felt like a malicious higher power we can't comprehend wanted to just put us through the worst time. I feel like whatever was trying to manifest is something we haven't seen the last of, but I'm talking as someone going blind as we speak, so we'll see I guess hooo boy

Having seen a lecture on this game I think I've done enough homework to bust into a Woolie lore series, but this is GG, and there's always something more insane in the lore I missed. Cheers for the series Woolz, and sweet logo Lee Smith.

The idea that Cliff was wise enough to see through Sol's exterior, past the war, past the culture of the order, past the rank and rules and saw his values, his true being and virtue as a man that hates the wicked and protects the meek: plain and simple. And just said "that's why you deserve it, see you when we can forget about this other bullshit." That's just really good, creative writing. I see why people love this, and I recently "clicked" with Soul Calibur VI, and was on the verge of clicking with Strive (I understood the base mechanics pretty well, just couldn't get combo timing going like I can now), so I've been reinstalling it since about 10 minutes into this video. Thanks Woolie.

12:18 Outrage is the name of a Japanese thrash metal band. The vocalist of said band is Naoki Hashimoto. Does that sound familiar to you? If not, it should, cause you’ve heard his voice in the music since Guilty Gear Xrd. Know the Smell of the Game now?

Assuming Woolie does another volume. It'd be very easy to just say "play the games to find out the rest" Its worth remembering PCP was about the only group that tried to cover everything in its entirety, and its all we had before this video. I kinda feel like ending this video with "Sol is, the guilty gear" kind of lifts from PCP but at the same time there are only so many ways to say "snape kills dumbledore."
