So according to Chaos in his arcade dialogue, Bedman manages to 'delete his own 'ID', becoming a multidimensional being. Based on that information, I think that by dying in Xrd, he simply lost his direct connection to this reality. Now, what I believe is that Bedman doesn't necessarily physically transcend dimensions, but rather can upload his consciousness to other dimensions, like the Dream World. Now, his consciousness has retreated back into the Dream World, where he still has control over the Bed. I believe the Bed is controlled remotely, whether Bedman is in the physical realm or not. The Bed itself is badly damaged in Strive, and I am willing to bet Bedman lost a good deal of power upon his physical death. This could explain the Bed's lack of empathy, and only does anything to protect Delilah. I am curious to see what Arcsys does with Bedman in the future, and if they do explain what is going on with 'Romeo'.

My theory was always that Bedman is dead, but that as he woke up his brain was no longer limited by sleep (the whole reason he needed to stay asleep is that his brain is so powerful and advanced, it would overheat itself and kill him if he isn't constantly suppressed by unconsciousness), and in his last moments he reprogrammed the bed to protect his sister. Personally I find it a lot more poetic if Bedman "moved outside the circle" (the circle being Samsara) not by just choosing not to die, but instead putting his final will into the bed to carry his will. And I read the "you can't see the radiant light, you can't hear the beautiful chant, you can't feel the tender warmth" more as him realizing he is dying and is facing oblivion, never to experience the world again. But despite that, he'll struggle to move outside the circle and protect his sister with his last will. This also makes the last lines of the song "I'm here, I'm here" incredibly fucking sad because Bedman himself is gone, but his will is still there for his sister and he wants her to know that he will still look out for her. Dunno I like it more thematically. I'm not really a fan of characters cheating death, which is why I was happy that they made Jack-O stay as her own person instead of becoming revived Aria.

I think it’s cool that in guilty gear, most times when a character dies they don’t come back in later entries (at least they don’t come back the same) take justice for example, we haven’t seen her in her Gundam form since XX. The running theme with characters returning from the dead only being able to express anything of their true selves in the presence of someone they knew in life reads to me like an expression of how people can live on through the memories of others. Badman isn't himself, he's a hulking robotic murder machine, except when he's around Delilah and feels the need to protect her at all costs. Romeo's gone, but he lives through Delilah. The bed is just a vessel that may or may not carry his consciousness with it.

I've also seen a theory that Bedman? is trying to use deja vu to replay his moves but because hes so fucked up he only gets errors, its a cool way of explaining the mechanical change through story. Oh and on the whole observation of people in gg coming back with a strong love for someone it does seem to make sense, we even kind of saw it with i-no (as megumi) and aria (as jacko). Just makes me wonder what Happy Chaos thing would be since there are some implications of him coming back in arcafe mode but he obviously doesnt have that one special person.

I appreciate that you dispelled the heinous Weezer allegations but even if Bedman's name comes from Bedeman I'd say his inspiration comes from the progressive metal band Dream Theater more than anything. His instakill is on a theater stage in a dream, their album covers are all surrealist art which fits Bedman's general reality bender vibe, his actual stage in Xrd is just called Nightmare Theater, I'd say this inspiration fits better than the idea they based a whole character around a single song from an okay at best 90s band.

Check out Bedman's talk with Axl about why he is doing what is he is doing. He specifically mentions the questions he asks of god in the Circle song, saying to Axl he wants Delilah to experience those things. Personal interpretation of the Circle song - Many aspects of the song could easily relate to the programming such as "Welcome to the infinite world. What's my endgame? There came a zero." A zero in binary represents false, off, or nothing. In this statement I think the bed is speaking to Bedman in the program in the way it knows how telling him basically there is none. Another interesting part is "One after the other, over and over again I watch the new pendulum. Where I’m left and can’t reach white black through the mold where I can find you with the access to the back of my eye lens" seems to describe his current existence, forced to effectively "reboot" anew each day with no memories but still feels a drive to protect Delilah since "And if the words that won’t go waste to rule my head" from the original Bedman, driven to seek her out from within the machine. I think Bedman copied himself into the programming of the bed, but the bed couldn't handle it and basically resets it's memory each day _including_ Bedman's copy. Now this digital ghost, this Ship of Theseus, is stuck in an endless loop of suffering where Bedman's dying thoughts are the only things it really remembers as directives and it's forced to work from within the broken bed and it's programming limitations. This causes this ghost to question it's existence since it's effectively trapped and is being severed from the emotional connection Bedman use to have with others, "I may not be able to make you smile" being an example directed at the one person he should of been able to. Essentially, the ghost is no longer Bedman in the same way Ram's dog is no longer the same dog, they lack that emotional component between individuals. This ghost can't make long term plans, can't create real solutions to it's and Delilah's problems, it can only observe and act without real understanding.

@@Ryukotic Yeah, Bedman's whole thing was storing information to recreate the human race after he and the pope finished creating their better world. He could literally fashion new life from the information, but as he explained to Ram just because you have an identical copy, a Ship of Theseus, the emotional connections are broken and lost. It's not "your" dog, nor it seems now "your" family as the Circle explains to us. I believe Bedman basically transferred as much of his personal information he could into the bed as a digital ghost, data and information acting within the code of the bed. Guilty Gear has real ghosts, and they act under very different rules than whatever Bedman? is. One of the info's from Arc about Bedman?'s bed was that it was constantly having memory issues, forcing it to wipe short term data every day. I believe Bedman's copy is what is causing these errors, the totality of a person is too much for the bed and it's performing constant system wipes to clean up it's "junk" data. The digital ghost is also causing many errors within the bed, corrupting it's command processes and having it act out in ways it isn't suppose to. I also believe that this digital ghost, this copy of Bedman stuck inside the machine and forced into a never ending memento movie style experience where he knows what he needs to do "protect Deliliah" but each day is a fresh new hell with the prior one forgotten and he is forced to go through the emotional torture that is learning and coming to terms with his fate anew each day, the "new pendulum" while his only companion is a synthetic intelligence speaking to him in the terms of code. He no longer has the emotional connections necessary to be a brother again. He longs for a final ending to his fate and the release it could provide him. Image if you will a copy of you left you an endless task and you have no means to free yourself from it, to have desires, wants, or needs be fulfilled beyond what was assigned to you. That that existence is possibly forever and that you may not even be able to have a final rest, a reunion in the beyond. For someone as utopian as Bedman was, this would be a torturous fate. There is no better, just the forever and as someone so keenly intelligent he is painfully aware of it.

I've known the existence of guilty gear for 2 years, but only now i got into it's history and characters 3 days ago. The first gg character i saw was bridget, the second was dizzy and the third, the one that ACTUALLY got me watching their full story mode in gg xx core+(i think), was a.b.a. and the fourth character that got me watching a 57 minute long video of only their dialogue, was bedman. I have to admit I wasn't very fond of Bedman during his time in Xrd, mainly because of his incel vibes (which are apparently a false alarm, thank Backyard), smarter-than-thou attitude and being a nuisance to fight against. But as soon as he got added to Strive, he (and especially Delilah) shot up in my tier list for GG characters. The thing is, I've dealt with loss of loved ones during my adolescence. A lot of it. Because of that, I really sympathize with both Romeo/the bed's motivation to protect Delilah, as I've seen what grief does to a person and it's awful to everyone involved, as well as Delilah's state of depression and anger at the one who took away her brother. As much as Another Story was animated poorly, the writing still had me sobbing for most of it and then, when I finally got to listen to The Circle, I just broke down and took a good 10 minutes to pull myself together. I may like a lot of GG characters but Bedman and Delilah are the ones I relate to the most

This vidéo was AWESOME! I'm playing GG since the first episode's released on PS; and as much i like stories in fighting games (i'm a HUGE KoF fan and the story is a big part of why) but i prefere to lear story through endings and stuff... It's part of the reason why i never did the story modes of Rev and Rev 2 or Strive. Knowing it's mostly cinematics i'm not just up for this, i'm playing those games to PLAY; but you did such a great job that i wanna play story mode of Rev and Rev 2 before i do Strive's story mode. bedmans one of the most conceptually interesting characters ever devised imo A kid who’s brain and magic are too strong that needs to be induced into a permenant coma so his brain doesn’t fry. Meanwhile his bed is turned into an unstoppable war machine and a host to better harness his powers. He uses his dreamlike state to alter reality and somehow he was basically the strongest character in the game, even more impressive to think we only ever saw him up to 7% of his power and other than just his concept his character is phenomenal as well!!! though to spare writing too much i wont go into it, plus i mean the video already does that. I just wanted to say despite not being alive they’ve made him such a better character in strive. The lyrics through his song, the lengths he would go for his sister. its actually the sweetest, ive always loved him but since his release in strive he’s become one of my favorite characters ever Still really upset they just up and killed him off in the game he was introduced in and i-no was killed several games into her introduction and yet they still (for some reason) brought her back to life after she died (i mean with chaos too but he’s entirely a different case) I just wish he was alive for longer
