Fun fact about Cyberpunk the Tabletop: Night City had well over 50 notable gangs in 2020, of which the Maelstrom are the only major gang still around relatively unaltered in 2077. The old gangs included the Kennedys, the Bozos, the Philharmonic Vampyres, the Gilligans, the Sacred Blades, and the Brainiacs. In 2020, the Tyger Claws were just a minor Japantown gang, the Valentinos were a themed gang of seducers who only really cared about scoring with hot women, and the Animals, 6th Street, and Mox didn't exist. The Voodoo Boys were technically also around, but they were mostly white drug pushers at the time. This incarnation of the gang was later hunted down and killed off by the later incarnation we'll become familiar with soon enough.

I know I'm going to both enjoy and be endlessly frustrated with how Woolie, so used to JRPGS as he is, is going to struggle with the often non-linear, discovery-based nature of WRPGS and of this game in particular. It's not just that he's unfamiliar with the style of gameplay, but that the way this game in particular presents content is in _direct opposition_ to Woolie's usual methodical, analytical scraping of a game's underlying systems. He can't just marinate in a game, accepting information as presented, he _needs_ to lab and try picking apart how it works, even when it means he jumps to conclusions based on how games he _has_ played work and completely miss context or explicit cues the game gives him.

Yeah, if you're referring to the dialogue: there's actually multiple times throughout the story where it's actually best to just let a timed dialogue choice run out and not say anything. For one, not knocking out Royce (and apparently killing him with the blow, which I always found weird) means you get a sick-ass mech suit fight at the end of the All Foods battle. There's another one later in the story that, if you let it run out and don't say or do anything, the person you're talking to will be much more sympathetic towards you when you talk to them again, because the two choices are both pretty shitty, one significantly worse than the other. Veteran players know what I'm talking about, but I'm leaving a lot of details out for obvious reasons. Hopefully, Woolie realizes that this game rewards thinking outside of the box, in combat, exploration, and dialogue.

Tech weapons don't just pierce light cover. That's oddly misleading. They pierce whole god damned buildings. One of my favorite ways to play is ping sniping: hack the cams of a building from across the street, ping and tag every enemy, maybe even hit them with some control hacks like reboot optics to make headshots more effective... and proceed to go to town with a Nekomata, preferably the iconic one, Breakthrough, simply aiming at their outlines and picking them off, one by one, before any of them even get a chance to leave the building to spot me. Can also be done within a building (obviously). I once completed a gig in a multi-story building from within just two rooms, using the tech revolver Gris-Gris and iconic Omaha pistol Lizzy, pinging and popping them through walls, floors and ceilings. Obviously it can be a boring way to play the whole game, but if you're in a tight spot and need to keep behind cover, tech weapons are more than up to the job, and don't just pierce "light cover."
@beanmclean79595 күн бұрын

You just have to load a save to get it back, but it's annoying, and unfortunately, 2.2 didn't fix it. I'm REALLY looking forward to him potentially getting the bug where your arms disappear. That shit annoyed the hell out of me until I realized I could fix it by simply equipping arm cyberware or fists. CDPR is apparently working on even more updates now (or rather, Virtuous is working on them for them, which is a win-win if they're as solid as this one was, more time and manpower to focus on Orion while 2077 continues getting great content), so hopefully one of those focuses on fixing all the weird, irritating, but not game-breaking bugs this game still has. This one is ridiculously up Woolie's alley of interests in a lot of ways, and this genre of game being so new to him is making it especially interesting, if occasionally a little painful to watch. He's also had a particular interest in playing it and seeing what it's about for almost two years now, since Edgerunners introduced him to the franchise. It took 4 years because it pretty much took that long for the game to be it's best, and as a big fan since 2.0 came out in 2023, I can tell you it was well worth the wait. Don't get me wrong, I think he'd have fun with Space Marine 2, and I hope he does try it some time, but this LP was a long time coming and is fresh and unique, while he kind of knows what to expect from Space Marine 2, and hasn't particularly fallen down the rabbit hole of getting into 40K just yet, even if he's shown some interest.

You must be new here. Woolie is hardly the type of guy to jump on the new hotness unless it's directly related to his interests.

The worst storyline with the most potential. How do you like pulling a gun on a guy you don't even own? Well get used to it! Every stupid cutscene refuses to just acknowledge that you own weapons so you pull this Glock-wannabe and try to act ULTRA TUFF. What happened to my shotgun that can peel open every opponent like a can of beans? Oh, sorry. We need dumb nothing stakes that fail to deliver. Oh and Woolie, don't bother scanning everything. The game isn't that deep. You won't find big cinematic changes or even the ability to pull guns off of guys holding you up (what was advertised). You're literally just wasting time looking for meaning that isn't there. Worst game! 2020 and onward!

What your comment should have been: "Woolie, don't bother scanning everything. The game isn't that deep. You won't find big cinematic changes"

I don't really like the level up system since 2.0. Tech and Reflexes are a must and you MUST maxout tech first so you can get guns that have more positives than negatives. And reflexes are second just because of the ability to dash.

I haven't played with the new level up system, but I didn't like how the "Beat the Brat" questline needed you to put a ton of points into Strength back in 1.0.

@@RicochetForce if you've never really messed around with air dashing I feel pity for you. Air dashing mixed with double jumping is the fastest form of movement in the game. with the right combination of dashes and jumps you can make it from oil fields to protein farm in like 5 minutes. The speed is insane.

@@chrisdaughen5257 My first playthrough was on 2.13 as a netrunner with only 3 strength, and it's ridiculously easy as long as you're relentless with your parrying and don't get hit more than 3 times because you have no health. Definitely don't need strength to do that questline anymore.
