Great find with the puzzle. I think having a book in hand is part of the experience of reading. I've never seen a squirrel cage swift. Gorgeous purple!!! You ladies are too funny!!❤ Thank you for your time and videos!😊

Love thrift shops, and I think I have the origami kit you mentioned 😮! But then, I was part of that whole 70s movement. Books 📚 with pictures are still fun…fiction of course. And give me an audible read with a lilting brogue and I’m hooked. Nice comfy chat today ladies. 🥰

Love " Blown away"! My son and I watch that together. I was thinking today that complementary colors were the theme for the socks. Yay me!

love the Thrift shop stories! I remember a time when going to thrift shops was not cool at all, at least in my area in the 80's but now seems like everyone loves them and why not?

Great thrift store find Jana. I hope all the pieces are there! Love going to thrift stores and I’m a newbie at auctions. They are fun too!

Wow, love the puzzle. There were 3 of those original huge Water Lilly panels. One is on permanent loan to the St. Louis Art Museum. I used to go there growing up and spend tons of time in that gallery with that large painting as I loved it.

I love a thrift shop find: great puzzle! It is true that Shetland has great thrift stores. People who live on islands never throw anything out so thrift shops are amazing. I live on an island too (Isle of Man) and the auctions and thrift stores here are great places to buy more stuff that we don't really need for next to nothing. Great vlogmas by the way and I am a new subscriber. I now have lots of lovely old podcasts to watch over the holidays. Merry Christmas/ Nollick Ghennal!

I enjoy thrift stores, also. It's the element of the unexpected, right?! Big snow in MN today. I shoveled once and will head out again; that's the only way to keep the weight down. I think I'll build a fire in the fireplace later and knit with the cats nearby. ☺️ Jana, please may the strong winds die down and stay away from MN!

Anne, it is possible from your description, that the spinners tool you purchased may be a Weasel or a Clock Reel. They were also used to measure yarn. There is a theory that the word "weasel" in the poem, "All Around the Mulberry Bush" is in reference to the popping sound the reel made in each rotation. I can't tell for sure without seeing your awesome find, if it is a Reel, but it may be fun to check it out. (ps, I live near the fiber Mill you visited in Easthampton. I'm so glad you found them).

I love thrift stores and estate sales. I have to tell you my puzzle find at an estate sale recently. Obviously the estate sale company isn’t into puzzles because they were selling Ravensburger puzzles $1.00 for those 2000 pieces and under. Those over 2000 pieces were $2.00. When I had purchased all the ones I wanted ($40 worth), someone pointed out to them the value of the 5000 piece Sistine Chapel. It sells for about $100! Boy, did I score a big win on that purchase. And the puzzles are top notch. Have fun puzzling.

At a thrift/antique store in Arizona, the owner has just bought 10 or12 Kachina dolls a group price that came out to $20 or so each. She was saying she would sell them for $75, settle for $60. My husband told her they were worth at least $200 each, so $75 was way too little to charge. We wandered around, found some stuff and when we checked out, she said she’d done some research and he was right, so she put one of them on top of our pile as a thank you for educating her and not trying to cheat her. 😲 He was thrilled.

Have to add, sorry for the second comment but Jana, did your family save feedbag strings when you were a kid? The pantyhose strips reminded me of this. We sure did. Everyone had this ball of string in the kitchen and in the barn - so useful for everything! Of course rubber bands were not that common, at least at my place, we were pretty poor.

Jana, I listen to audiobooks from our local library using the Libby app (free, I have a library card). I don't know what's in your area, is that an option for you?

I saw a wooden, handmade berry picker at a big antique fair/garage sale. Beelined right to it. How much? $3. “What is it?”……”Oh.”

How about checking the book out of your library.
@PurlTogether4 күн бұрын
I may try to find it there. Our library has "archived" a bunch of the classics, claiming that they don't get checked out and that they needed the space. It's sad. But you're right. I'll check for it.
