Turn it up Chris, just look at the vast variety of Halloween merchandise Woollies had on offer for you to buy! and you want them to display and sell 'poppies' as a mark of respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice to create the freedom we now enjoy. You seem to be expecting too much from Woke [WW] Woollies. I cancelled by Rewards card and simply refuse to shop at Woollies after their PP performance on Australia Day.

When I was a kid it was Armistice Day. Our school had those who participated in WW1 to talk about our experiences over the school P.A. system. They were in their forties at that time. I was struck by the bravery and that their sacrifice was for us, ordinary school kids. I am still moved to this day by their bravery.

I,m 68 and I can still remember when Armistace Day meant a lot more to people than it does today mainly because there were still those in the community who had a living link back to WW1. I cant remember ever going to a supermarket to buy poppies in the 60s more likely you bought them on the street from someone like the Legacy Ladies doing fund raisers or you got them from a local RSL. As the years pass ( its now been more than 100 since that war ended) Rememberance Day will to continue to fade in significance for our younger generations.. ANZAC Day is the main day for Australians to pay their respects for those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice in war and that seems to be becoming more popular with young people rather than less. I will continue to stop and pay may own respects at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month because I always have what Woolworths or any anyone else chooses to do on that day is irrelevent to me.

It's a cultural shift. Last census indicated 30% of Australia is now overseas born. You meet people all over that say they don't celebrate Easter or Christmas because it's not part of their heritage. We used to observe the minute's silence when I was a kid in school. Do they still do that? I bet Woolies wouldn't forget one of the rainbow alphabet days, but Remembrance Day? Australia isn't really a country anymore, it's more like an international hotel that just celebrates gay all year...

It seems we place too much importance on this kind of trivial thing. War happened, we dont want it to happen again. Mothers gave birth to children who were then sent to fight wars. How do those mothers feel. A poppy is not going to make any difference. We need to stop glorifying wars.
