This is the second video in a series where Michael Evanko fly fishes for trout with vintage fly rods. In this video, Evanko searches for wild brook trout on a small tributary in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He uses a Fenwick FL72-6 fiberglass fly rod. This video was the first time Evanko ever fished the rod. He purchased this rod through an estate sale on eBay. It is believed this rod is a custom wrapped blank from the mid 60s or early 70s. To his knowledge, the factory did not wrap with the multi-colored wraps shown on the rod in the video. If anyone has info on this rod, please comment below.
The stream fished in this video is a 4-5 mile long tributary and was not fished or hiked by Evanko prior to this video. Evanko accessed this stream by hiking a quarter mile into Tioga State Forest and then hiking another 2.5 miles upstream. The water was 56-58 degrees at the time of filming. All brook trout in this video were caught on a #14 Lance Egan Corn Fed Caddis pattern.
