I live in McKean county and I have a creek behind my house that has native trout in. I've caught them over 18" there. I walk the creek in the spring to check the creek for good spots because the creek changes every year because of flooding. There used to be a good little hiding spot for the trout that is inside of a hollow tree that is laying in the creek long wise and it goes up inside the creek bank. The end of the log is down below the surface of the bedrock and surrounded by other logs. But if you slowly work your way up to the log and look down you could see the trout sitting inside the log. But after checking the creek this year I discovered the flood water had filled it the hollow log with rocks. I'm gonna try to remove the rock and restore the spot.

Probably using the creek to spawn and travel between larger bodies of water, its strange, the brown trout here in wales are very skittish, you could never stomp through water or even pop your head up they would know. But I'd love to fish this creek, stunning fish.
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 18 күн бұрын
@@deanmorgan7011 Possibly….. but I know for sure now that there are definitely big residents in that stream year round! Yeah as long as you approach from downstream the fish above you in the stream generally don’t spook from wading if there are riffles or rapids! 👌 A slow flat pool is a different story though sometimes….. depending on the clarity of the water! 🤙😁

The red rod in this video looks very small and ultralite. I’m using 4’6” vintage Daiwa’s now. Mini-mites and I love them. Just curious what you were using here and if I’m right that it was you breaking the rod ha. Also what streamers are you using? I see the mepps Aglia but not sure of the streamers. Thanks man. Lol…. Yeah man I slammed my tip of my Berkley Cherrywood in the door breaking off the front section of it & from that point forward I’d break that section off of a brand new rod because I got used to the length reduction & how much better it worked for me & most importantly how much more accurate I was at casting….. all from an accident lol….. The streamers are a homemade pattern that my buddy makes for me, he doesn’t really like giving information out about those but they are 1/4oz. 👌👍 Appreciate the love too man👌🤙😁🥰

I pretty much hunted for big trout for most of my life, a lot of trial and error and exploration was involved along the way, pretty much keep your ears open for people that talk about big fish streams and maybe try those…. The bottom line is most streams. Have big fish some streams have bigger numbers of big fish…… put the right amount of time in & you’ll find them! 🤙😁

Thanks for the response. There’s a couple of promising streams off the beaten path I am planning on hitting in the near future that I know hold wild browns, I’m going to throw some big streamers on my fly rod and hope for the best. your videos have me hooked! Keep it up!

There must be an abundance of food in those cold waters. Where are you fishing? At least what state are you in. But make no mistake about it. I catch fish to EAT THEM! I love the taste of freshly caught fish of various species. Walleye is my favorite.

Yeah most of the streams I fish have one or multiple beaver dams in them, which do very good at producing big fish as in they are loaded with small bait fish which these bigger fish just thrive on and become giant…..then when these beaver dams break out these fish have to go someplace! 👌🤙😁 I am in total agreement, there is no better freshwater fish to eat than a walleye…… Crappie, perch and bluegill are definitely a close second and I do also enjoy catfish, but I like to throw these big trout back so I can build a history with them! 🤙😁👌🎣

That is a magnificent fish. Nice catch. You remind me exactly of a teenage girl taking a selfie. That’s my take. I watched you manhandle 2 large fish unnecessarily, just to get those selfies.

@@jeffchauvet3725 Thanks man……. Now my take on it….. I guess it all depends on what you as an individual are happy with when you land a giant fish in a small stream…… I personally don’t fish to just put the fish back without a nice record of me catching it (AKA a picture)….. so the other side of this coin is that it isn’t always the easiest thing to do when you have a giant unruly wild fish that potentially never seen a human & is desperately trying to not be in your possession any longer as you witnessed in the footage……… so either you’re happy with a quick C&R or you want a pic of the Trophy basically of a lifetime for most people…… I wanted a Pic…… and these fish were first & foremost not harmed in the process, just because it looked like they were manhandled doesn’t mean they weren’t in the water the whole time & not harmed one bit…… I honestly take pride in keeping the fish in the water except for the few short seconds I pull them up for a quick pic…. And also they a way less vulnerable when the waters are good & cold as they were in these early Spring conditions! 👌

Yeah, I’ve been fortunate enough to find some small streams that have bigger fish here in Pennsylvania….. a lot of it has been due to beaver dams I believe…. They seem to grow big in those and people can’t really catch them because of all of the cover and depth, then when the dams break the fish go throughout the stream.! 👌

@@emilymiller1853 I’m just trying to figure out your argument here…. The main reason I walk in these small streams is to navigate them since the surrounding terrain is very thick, brushy or inaccessible…… aside from that I fish upstream casting & making my presentations up ahead of me since the fish always are facing upstream…… I never spook them approaching from downstream, even if I’m in the middle of the stream! 🤦‍♂️😂👌🤙😁
