I live in McKean county and I have a creek behind my house that has native trout in. I've caught them over 18" there. I walk the creek in the spring to check the creek for good spots because the creek changes every year because of flooding. There used to be a good little hiding spot for the trout that is inside of a hollow tree that is laying in the creek long wise and it goes up inside the creek bank. The end of the log is down below the surface of the bedrock and surrounded by other logs. But if you slowly work your way up to the log and look down you could see the trout sitting inside the log. But after checking the creek this year I discovered the flood water had filled it the hollow log with rocks. I'm gonna try to remove the rock and restore the spot.

@@deanmorgan7011 Possibly….. but I know for sure now that there are definitely big residents in that stream year round! There must be an abundance of food in those cold waters. Where are you fishing? At least what state are you in. But make no mistake about it. I catch fish to EAT THEM! I love the taste of freshly caught fish of various species. Walleye is my favorite.
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho26207 ай бұрын
Yeah most of the streams I fish have one or multiple beaver dams in them, which do very good at producing big fish as in they are loaded with small bait fish which these bigger fish just thrive on and become giant…..then when these beaver dams break out these fish have to go someplace! 👌🤙😁 I am in total agreement, there is no better freshwater fish to eat than a walleye…… Crappie, perch and bluegill are definitely a close second and I do also enjoy catfish, but I like to throw these big trout back so I can build a history with them! 🤙😁👌🎣

@chasingthewildwithdustyrho262025 күн бұрын
@@jeffchauvet3725 Thanks man……. Now my take on it….. I guess it all depends on what you as an individual are happy with when you land a giant fish in a small stream…… I personally don’t fish to just put the fish back without a nice record of me catching it (AKA a picture)….. so the other side of this coin is that it isn’t always the easiest thing to do when you have a giant unruly wild fish that potentially never seen a human & is desperately trying to not be in your possession any longer as you witnessed in the footage……… so either you’re happy with a quick C&R or you want a pic of the Trophy basically of a lifetime for most people…… I wanted a Pic…… and these fish were first & foremost not harmed in the process, just because it looked like they were manhandled doesn’t mean they weren’t in the water the whole time & not harmed one bit…… I honestly take pride in keeping the fish in the water except for the few short seconds I pull them up for a quick pic…. And also they a way less vulnerable when the waters are good & cold as they were in these early Spring conditions! 👌

Yeah, I’ve been fortunate enough to find some small streams that have bigger fish here in Pennsylvania….. a lot of it has been due to beaver dams I believe…. They seem to grow big in those and people can’t really catch them because of all of the cover and depth, then when the dams break the fish go throughout the stream.! 👌

Never ceases to amaze me... Even in a 4ft wide Creek.. you still get right in the middle of it.. 🤣 🤣 stay out of the water.. Unless it's necessary. Which is nearly never in a creek like this.

@@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 standing in the middle of the creek... You are one of those folks that catches a few fish(in a bathtub sized Creek) and thinks they got it going on.. 🤣 👏 The fish literally cannot leave.

@@emilymiller1853 I’m just trying to figure out your argument here…. The main reason I walk in these small streams is to navigate them since the surrounding terrain is very thick, brushy or inaccessible…… aside from that I fish upstream casting & making my presentations up ahead of me since the fish always are facing upstream…… I never spook them approaching from downstream, even if I’m in the middle of the stream! 🤦♂️😂👌🤙😁
