My 8yr old and 11 yr old both ride our Woom Now 5. I used your video to swap out to a trigger shifter immediately after building it up. We live in flatland Illinois and they use the bike to bring sports gear to the local park and they ride it to school on Fridays. I agree with all your points (cons). The kickstand drives me crazy when I move it around the garage. I had to over emphasize to my kids to check the bag straps before riding when loaded down. We just did the Chicago Bike the Drive over the weekend and my 8yr old got lots of compliments from other kid and adult riders 😊

Is there an easy dual kickstand I could swap? Having swapped the grip shifter, for our school commute the Woom Now 5 is killing it - except the kickstand.

The front rak would make more sense with a bar secured to it or some kind of box. I agree backpack directly in it won't be a good idea. But if backpack straps are too long I recommend sewing them shorter, if the adjustment is still needed, if not you can also cut them and melt the ends. But it being in the rear can be problematic too, once I had to put nitrile gloves on and get a backpack strap out a drivetrain on a kid's bike. That was with the kid wearing it. But putting it inside a pannier bag isn't a bad idea.

2:10 Can't you just loosen the front plate bolts? and spin the bar? this isn't a one piece bar and stem. Maybe you meant the stem. 3:05 You shouln't look at the front wheel when riding, that's how you might crash. Look where you are about to ride.

I agree that the rear bike rack would be a better choice, especially for a kid. Having cargo on the front (especially f they’re carrying something that’s too heavy) can put the rider out of balance unbalanced and they’re more likely to tip over. Having that weight on the back of the bike means that when they’re turning they don’t have the weight throwing them harshly into the turn they’re making. It’s happened to me as an adult when I was trying to bring groceries home and my handlebar and front wheel spun out to the side and almost made me fall. I would be very concerned about a child not having enough control and experience as a rider to be able to prevent them from hitting the ground.

The front rack on this bike is frame-mounted, not fork-mounted, which makes an enormous difference. Turning the handlebar doesn't shift the weight like it does with a fork-mounted rack. Any rear-mounted rack will have a bigger impact on handling than a frame-mounted front rack like this one.
