Just want to thank you for this video. My boiler overheated when turning on the hot water, but central heating worked fine. I would not have tackled this job, had I not seen this video beforehand. It turns out the job was far easier than I had built it up in my mind. You saved me a fortune, but more importantly the time it would take to get a plumber out. It cost me only £16 for 4 seals from City Plumbing and about an hour of my time. It's good of you to help people like me. Cheers.

Just want to say thanks for this video. I changed mine with a replacement part and used this video as a guide. Boiler not locking out and overheating now and system running perfectly 😊😊😊😊

Are there any external filters that you recommend installing on the incoming water inlet pipe to prevent the heat exchanger plate from clogging up the domestic hot water side? I have a Bosch 151P combo boiler with a Rinnai scale cutter installed on the inlet pipe and it’s still problematic. Do you think a sediment filter or something else would help? Bosch Customer service is useless, and the contractor that came to my house was not knowledgable.

I put my old heat exchanger in a bucket, poured boiling water inside, put the exchanger in it, added soda crystals, white vinegar and booomm, the reaction started and loads of orange water rised to the top of the bucket with loads of black flakes coming out. My boiler was kettling so got a new exchanger fitted and kept the old one for a spare. Might give it a blast with your method aswell

If this doesn’t fix the hot water issue what would you try next? I’ve replaced the plate and it didn’t make any difference. I’ve also noticed that the plate temperature isn’t hot enough to transfer heat and it’s like warm during the hot water cycle. I have isolated the flow and return taps incase thr diverter was passing and this also doesn’t make any difference. Any help appreciated cheers

Does it have to be the hot pipe? Can you do the same but with the CH isolate pipe? Would there be any snags with that?
@petegasguy Жыл бұрын
Do what you got to do to get the thing out. Hot is easiest though

Good stuff ,quick question does the ‘moving the hot pipe out of the way method ‘ work on the 25-30i erp models and also junior range ?
@petegasguy4 жыл бұрын
harrisonruss99 nah mate - you may have to cut the pipe to give you a bit of space - depends how much ‘give’ there is in the pipework tbh.

Hi I have Bosch 151 model. Are you able to show how to replace the DHW sensor, and also the fan? I'm getting C6 error which is the fan; however, when I turn off and than turn on I'm getting A7 error which is DHW sensor. Are you able to show/record how to replace those? Thank you in advance. I'm asking for that as your video is really good and I like the explanation and the way you did it.

No problem at all. If you can just undo all connections - disconnect the electrics and drive it up to me i’ll happily show you how to do it 😂 - i’m all out of bosch 151 boilers at the minute.

Started getting this same issue on a 37cdi. Assuming it's the plate heat exchanger but symptoms are a few mins of hot water then the LCD temp read out rockets to 99 then through U1-9 which i assume is just because there is only a 2 digit readout and it's gone above 99, then no hot water at all.
@petegasguy3 жыл бұрын
Spot on… Sounds like plate is a good place to start - blockage of some description but could easily be somewhere else… it’s a fair starting point though.
@mggooders713 жыл бұрын
@@petegasguy Should be easy to drain down and replace. Literally everything in this house has stop valves on it. Literally at every junction or outlet. Bit over kill but makes it easy to do any plumbing!
@mggooders713 жыл бұрын
Don't think my issue is the plate exchanger. Spirit of salts didn't even react with anything. Left it for a good hour and the liquid very slightly discoloured but that's it. Water takes 1-2 seconds to emerge from the other end of the exchanger when hosed in on one end. Also cleaned out the trap which had loads of grey sludge in. Issues persists when reassembled. Looking at pump next...

@@mal11116 Ended up replacing the fan and pump. Annoyingly today i've just started experiencing the same problem again. It's been fine for just over a year.....

How many hours labour would a engineer take to do this work, either by removing the exchanger underneath or from front ?
@neilcromwell87373 жыл бұрын
How can you tell which metal your heat exchanger is made of? Have been told spirit of salts attack aluminium.
@jtw23824 жыл бұрын
Having what sounds like the same issue but maybe not exactly. We draw HW and the boiler turns on and heats up to 199f and shuts off. I thought the pump may be the problem since it doesn't seem to be pumping the water out, just heating it up. Does this sound like the same issue? I'll try your fix to see if it solves the problem. Thank you for posting!!
@petegasguy4 жыл бұрын
Marcus W keep us posted... probably worth sticking a decent cleaner in CH too... to get a bit out of main heat exchanger.... although they can be a nightmare to clean up.
