I'm a student stuck in a freezing cold house with my landlord on holiday. I assumed pressurizing a boiler would be way more difficult than this - I looked this up almost on a whim. A minute after watching this video, my radiators are now hot again. Like some sort of black magic. Thank you :).

Had been searching the manual on how to repressurise our boiler, it stated we need to call out an engineer, was quoted £150 plus VAT so I turned to trusty KZbin for help. This video explained the exact procedure we needed, rectified the problem in 2 minutes, Excellent! You have saved us a lot of money and waiting around for an Engineer just to turn a key and a nut. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I'm saving this video for future reference.

BG charge my M.I.L £100 to spend 2 minutes doing this every year, when the pressure only drops a fraction below 1.5b. Thanks to this video, I've been able to stop her worrying about tiny pressure drops, and set the pressure myself, so from now on I can keep an eye on it, and she does not get ripped off. Thanks.

Many thanks, this worked a treat. For those of you about to try this, here's a quick tip: If the knob you turn to let cold water into the boiler doesn't seem to do anything, you may find that you need to take it off, then use pliers to turn it. This happened to me as the white knob in the video, which lets water in, was worn and didn't turn the actual shaft. So we took it off then used pliers. Job done.

Excellent instructional video. My key was difficult to insert into the hole, quick touch of fairy liquid on the 'O' rings help to ease it in. You do need to make sure that it is fully seated before you turn to the lock position. If not it will drip water, when you turn the white fill knob on.

Great video, thanks. Very clear, concise instructions. My boiler pressure had dropped after bleeding a radiator, so this video was very helpful. Excellent video thanks. Saved me a lot of stress. One thing I would like to add is that getting the key to push in and fit properly can be quite difficult to get right. I had lots of attempts and nearly damaged the plastic key which can easily be done. And once damaged you’re in big trouble. So one top tip is to leave the key in and leave it there in position for next time you need to top up. Its what I do and saves me a lot of hassle.

great video, boiler refilled in two minutes. The key needed some effort to push all the way in as brand new, won't turn until it's in all the way. once in, it turned very easily. So if you're struggling, don't try to turn it harder, try pushing it in further.

Your advice saved me from snapping the key as it wouldn't turn. The choice was risk it and snap the key, or let the family freeze tonight! That extra push in did the trick (using a touch of washing up liquid on the rubber seals on the key). Thank you.

Our heating wasn't working this morning, on the boiler it stated pressure is too low and our boiler has recently been installed so haven't had the need to repressurise it (and couldn't remember engineer's instructions either lol). It has a key thankfully but we don't have the pressure dial like yours though, despite that the technique still worked. I had alot of water coming out compared to yours so I started panicking a little. I then I switched boiler back on and it started building up the pressure. So thank you and really appreciate the video 🙏🏻

Washing up liquid, a tiny bit, is good. A small amount of silicon oil is better. Don't buy it unless you have other uses for it. If you have a friend who has Scuba equipment, they almost certainly have some silicon oil for use with O-ring seals.

Why can you not leave the key in place as my engineer after serving the has done . ?

In case it gets knocked and bends the manifold? I imagine that would be a nightmare to fix.

I have tried following these instructions thoroughly making sure the key was turned to the correct padlock symbol etc and ensuring the key is inserted firmly but water comes pouring from the key everytime I attempt this.

Hi Michaela, thanks for your query. If water is coming out from where the key is inserted it means the key was not pushed all the way to form a seal, a little bit of washing up liquid on the end of the key will help it go up further. Please let us know if you have any further questions

Thank you very much for concise instructions. I got the same boiler and had the same problem, but increased to 2.5bar ,still green area. After watching this video, was peace of mind and dont have to wait for plumbers and saved unnecessary bill.

Just followed this video's instructions and it worked a treat. Wish I'd seen this video before I tried to figure it out on my own (sprayed water all over the worktop). I was fiddling with the dials, not realising that the key thing was attached to the door flap. Thanks.

This video was a massive help however, the engineer forgot to tell us to remember to switch the boiler on again from the mains switch.

When you are turning the nut, it is clockwise to open and anti clockwise to close. Which is the opposite way he says to do it.

Thank you for this. This helped to calm a very stressful situation where we couldn’t figure out how to sort out no pressure in our boiler on a Sunday evening! 👍🏻😁
