Holy shit the left hand panel staying open is so nice. That has driven me nuts for so long.

7:30 absolute gamechanger!!! Like, common sense for all other builders, but took gutenberg 6 years for basic UX

True. So unnecessary. All this should hbave been worked out by year two.

Great overview. I know it would be nice to get everything all at once, but I like the incremental improvements to the overall admin experience. Things look more polished with each release. I think there should be one standard default theme that doesn’t get updated every year, just a core WordPress theme, and then with each release create a very unique, bespoke design that showcases the best of what is possible with WordPress.

The zoomed out view is a nice feature. They have had this in Divi for years. From what I picked up from the Etch announcment it's proposed to to zoom out further to show all pages so one can jump over to/copy and paste to/from etc. That would be interseting. Two things I would like to see in Bricks are proper fluid typography and colours set up ala ACSS. I have a lightwieght CSS framework that I have put together that sits in the default theme CSS, accessible within the builder useing Advanced Themer. The only two things that are tricky to manage from this are the font-sizes and colours.

I hate how they keep trying to shove features in to these default themes. Wish they added more to core WordPress or improve what's already there.
@DavidBell-qq1sdАй бұрын
Right. No need for a new theme each year. Better to put those resources in core.
@HanneslsmАй бұрын
What kind of features do you mean? All features in the default theme are utilizing the WordPress features?
@Jim.HummelАй бұрын
It's encouraging to see progress with WP (I need to be careful using the full word...LOL) but it's taken half a decade to get this far. I'd really love to see the WP team clean up the "inside" CMS functions and optimized the internals. Tis can let the ecosystem focus on builders. Just my $0.02

When the sponsor segment started I thought for a second it was going to be a WP Engine sponsorship.

Very nice productivity enhancements. WP also has some 'polish' for subtle things we may not notice right away. The typography is a nice updated feature. No one has to wait. You can get the latest updates of the prerelease (not recommended for any sort of production). Paul, thank you for the video. It's nice to stay informed on coming attractions.

Great video! I love the new 2025 theme, it's a massive step up from the previous one as the design is more neutral and less biased in terms of colors and fonts.

Paul, this breakdown of WordPress 6.7 is incredibly insightful! The new features, especially the updated template viewer and enhanced typography controls, sound like game-changers for us developers. Fluid typography and the streamlined query loop builder will definitely elevate content management. Thanks for your clear explanations and keeping us updated on these advancements. Looking forward to seeing how these features enhance other builders like Elementor and Bricks as well! Keep up the awesome work!

Hi Paul, did you ever invite one of the top staff members of Wordpress for an interview with you about current state of things an their roadmap. Could be very constructive for all of us maybe. Just my suggestion, keep on the good work.

Hi Paul. Do you know if button states - default, hover, focus - have been addressed in this version? Designers who care about accessibility have been asking for this for years. Thanks.
@phillankesterАй бұрын
not in beta2 as far as i can see.
@HanneslsmАй бұрын
What is the issue with button states? You can modify them in the theme.json. Or do you mean the UI?
@tjsayers5428Ай бұрын
@@Hanneslsm yes, the button states can be coded in theme.json or using custom CSS, you are correct. If Core/ themes included the focus state and offered non-coders the three states in the styles panel, it is more likely that they would be used. For an end user who uses an assistive devise or keyboard to navigate, the focus state is very important.

The title is kind of clickbaity - I mean, what are the goog/bad/ugly features, in your opinion?? They all look ok to me, good improvements.
@WPTutsАй бұрын
@@ClaudiuPopa what’s click baity? To you they look ok, to me some of the design aspects are ugly, the bad is that everything is still focused on Gutenberg and FSE and the good are some of the QoL enhancements. So, there you go. The perfect title for my take on the update. 😉
@ClaudiuPopaАй бұрын
@@WPTuts Thanks for the reply, those conclusions should have been included in the video to clearly see what those three categories of WP changes are from your point of view. But good video, anyways. 👏

I felt the same, but the Blocks Editor does now have AI with some webhosts as an option with a free plugin. It can be very useful in cases where it saves a lot of research and also produces fairly reasonable articles.

Suggesting that the VOLUNTEERS who worked on this TT theme must have a disability ("must be colorblind"), that it's "UGLY" etc is really disappointing (giving you the benefit of the doubt that you weren't directing this at the wonderful project lead who has given more to the FSE project than almost anyone). This kind of unnecessary and hurtful opinion commentary on top of what should be a simple walk-through amounts to bullying and is certainly against the WP Community Code of Conduct. PLEASE do not become one of the bad actors in the WP community-I used to watch this channel for its enthusiastic walkthroughs of cool new features... but it seems to have become so negative and click-baity the last few months. FWIW all of the TT themes are fairly unopinionated precisely so users can layer their own design onto the essential layouts needed to build a site from scratch in the Site Editor (and are frameworks meant to showcase features of said Editor-sometimes things aren't just about how they look). Anyone who wants to can contribute to the TT themes or contribute in Github on the WP Gutenberg projects.

It's not directed at anyone and was meant in a lighthearted fashion - I'm sure most people are not overly sensitive snowflakes that would get offended by a comment about the 'frankly awful' purple combination of colours and bad typography. As it is made up of a combination of elements that can be chosen by the user, I'm sure most people can take the comment for what it is - a light hearted poke at a truly ugly combination. If that's all you took away from this video, I'm sorry, but that was a joke in what was a pretty positive video. 🤦♂ As for my content, I find it pretty sad that having an opinion that isn't all happy and fluffy on topics that frankly are ruining the whole WordPress environment and community or calling out that type of behaviour is considered 'negative' pretty ironic! Maybe someone should tell that 'wonderful' owner of WP to stop what he is doing and consider the wider impact this is having on developers, users and those building a living around WordPress. Oh, and P.S. in the UK, colourblindness isn’t generally considered a ‘disability’.
