I just purchased a pair of Nicks's boots and love them. The Builder Pro is one of the best boots made. THey are pricy but you will have one pair when you will have to replace this type of boot three or four times before you will need to resole Nick's boots.

Arbortec Scafellites are great for spur work. Very durable. Not great for pruning or comp but for the everyday arborist in a tree or trees for 6 plus hours a day it's my personal favorite.
@vitrifiedvolcanicvent1500 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that. I appreciate comfort while working. My first priority is always to firstly provide a high quality service (to both the heterotrophic and the autotrophic client). Accomplishing meticulous work is something which, in my opinion, is only truly attainable with ironclad consistency once flow is achieved - the hurriedness of maximum productivity is enticing, but wears us out sooner or later. Well-paced work leads to long term optimisation. I would describe the Sequoia SRT harness in a similar way to what you say about the Scafellites.

I love my HAIX protector ultras. They felt like wearing a ski or snowboard boot at first, but they do break in after a couple days. One thing he got wrong was that the HAIX protectors do not have a steel toe, they have a composite toe and are therefore electrical rated.
@volvoben25 жыл бұрын
They're steel on the protector ultra. Check the haix site, steel toe cap.

Composite looks really unsatisfactory in boot versus chainsaw tests ...

FYI... The Haix Protector Ultra (Green) is not hot! Even on hot days my feet seem to stay cool enough. It is 100% the MOST Comfortable Boot EVER! I can walk around on super steep rough rocky ground all day long and they feel like bedroom slippers. I swear to God these are the best boots I've ever had.

I have had almost all these boots ( I usually go through a couple pairs a year) I have found the Salewa the most comfortable by far even if it has less support. No issues on hooks, other than that the heal is annoyingly placed further back than traditional boots meaning I have had to adjust my style a bit for kicking in. If they fixed that they would perfect.

I'm a old climber and 98% of the time I'm in spurs I prefer a high heel logger type boot allways wanted to try a pair of wescos

Have you noticed that logger boots are undesirable for working when out of spurs?

Scaffel lite are like ski boots. No Flex. The back where achilles meets heel just digs in because while walking your heel wants to lift out of the boot because there is no flex. Also inside where the heel it is just downright uncomfortable not even walking. There is tough fabric where it transitions from the rand to the upper. Maybe some break in time but I just dont see that happening any time soon. The construction though seems quite high quality. I will update if this changes. I don't think I would ever buy these boots again. I like Scarpa Kinesis boots, they are very comfortable right out of the box, though not chainsaw protective.

stitched sole : potentially good workboots, depending on several other characteristics. glued sole : bad work boots.

I’ve had 2 pairs of scaffels and the lower hard shell separates from the leather on the back of the boots. Both pairs. First pair did it in 3 months and I was able to have them replaced. Got a year out of the next pair before they did it again. It’s too bad, because they are nice otherwise
@aerialrescuesolutions32772 жыл бұрын
What country are they made in? I know some arborist boots are from Germany and Italy. Thank you for an answer.
@DeadlyPlatypus Жыл бұрын
Are there any big functional differences between most of these boots and logging boots, things that become apparent when climbing/working in the tree? Things like heel height, tread "aggressiveness," stiffness? Or is it mostly comfort?

These are much more like hiking boots than logger work boots.

I love my Haix airpower xr200. So comfortable, very durable. Used them for several winters of ash removals in wet mucky bush. Kept me pretty warm and dry, fit nicely in Neo's on days I needed more warmth.

The price is not that deferent. Handmades are not that much more and they last year's. Where the hiking boots style last 6 to 8 mouths best. More like 6 months. My wescos have been around 10 years at 6 years I hand the sole and bottoms done.big deffrence.

I can't stand goretex in work boots. Nothing worse than hot sweaty feet in the heat of summer. Goretex's "breathable" is a joke when it's 95 degrees and the sun is beating down
@BrightJuni3 жыл бұрын
Helpful over in the Pacific Northwest winter, spring and fall though, I had to wear snow boots at work for a while cause everything else would leak after a few weeks of heavy work in muddy creeks and algae/moss ridden logs.
@ktraughb2 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Is it warmer than nothing? Sure. But I wear them daily in 100 plus Temps without excessively sweaty feet. Compared to danners house version "danner dry" where my feet always come out wet.
@chrisalister2297 Жыл бұрын
Agree with you on goretex. It's fine for cooler, damp climates. But in the southeast US, no way. Feet fatigue really fast in goretex.
