My favorite edc fix blade has been the tops Tom brown scout . Had it for ten plus years and have WAY to many knives …. But it’s just that knife I can’t be without.

I love this knife. After I bought mine last year and using it a month or so, I bought 2 more for my twin 30 y/o sons. What drew me to it most was in my eye, its a modified Nessmuk with a drop point. Great lines and extremely functional in its design. I'm a big proponent of smaller fixed blade EDC. Not that I've not carried the old time grandfather folder Buck knives and still do on occasion. But I trust a solid fixed blade more.

WM115 agree completely. . . a fixed EDC is a great improvement to a folder. . . can't beat their strength. Your PSA is well taken!. . .check those state and local laws and ordinances and be very careful in California! The state has an "Open carry" law, but many communities have ordinances prohibiting carry other than a folder, and then a

People have been carrying fixed blades for years and not just because of the media. The Buck 110 was popular as soon as it was invented because its practical and can be put be put in a pocket or pack and be easily retrieved and used.

People carrying folders there is nothing to do with pop culture. People carry folders because they are always more convenient for EDC than a fixed blade and most people don't need the strength of a fixed blade in most situations. The only type of EDC fixed blade that comes close to the convenience of a folder is the type of fixed blade who has a sheath with Ulticlip who doesn't let the whole handle sticking out of the pocket like the Boker Daily AK1 or the Creely Blades Mako but still they are not as discreet as a folder with a black deep carry pocket clip and not as fast to clip in and out the pocket compared to the Ulticlip. To be fair I do carry a fixed blade nowadays in the Fred Perrin method which I do just because I don't trust most locks on folders but I am aware of the fact that for my use I rarely need the strength of a fixed blade.
