Work zones can create entirely different sets of navigational challenges.
For one, there will usually be multiple signs in close sequence. Each sign is providing a different warning and its own helpful information.
Next, you will usually find heavy concrete walls, sometimes called jersey walls, and these can create a feeling that the lane has narrowed, and in some cases it actually has.
So look at the base of the jersey wall and notice that there is usually at least about a foot between the wall and the
white line outlining the road.
Also, if you stay aware of the discoloration in the middle of the road and keep your vehicle’s centerpoint, or license plate, in the middle of that discoloration, you will avoid the danger of getting too close to the jersey wall.
