I have got to say: A Very Big Thank you, the conversion you showed on this video saved me quite a lot of money. THHIS CONVERSION WORKS: BRILLANTLY: AGAIN, A VERY BIG THANK YOU.

Another excellent video Steve. This will be my next project upgrading some old coaches with D couplings to Hunt couplings. Thanks for taking the time and effort to explain the process. Its certainly made my job a lot easier. Thanks buddy and just to say your layout looks superb.👍👍👍

Hi Eddie … Many thanks for watching and your nice comments. I’ve started to keep a few versions of magnetic couplings by Hunt And other manufacturers. They may be applicable to specific locos/coaches or wagons, but they can be modified to fit anything to make a consist. Regards… Steve 👍👍

I like those Hunt couplings. They work and look great on those coaches. Nice job. Cheers - Larry.

Thanks, that is very useful for me. I will see if there are shorter couplings otherwise I don't see the advantage of doing this work.

Hi Gordon Many thanks for watching. The upgrade in this case is the coupling distance when pulling is reduced by a good four millimetres between each set of buffers. This makes the rake look a lot better. The magnets couple at the same point or distance the old tension locks did when pushed together. There is no slack between the coaches in the rake. I can’t go to close coupled as I’ve unfortunately got a couple of tight curves on my layout. Regards…. Steve 👍

very nice I'm just about to start replacing the older style couplings on some of my rolling stock

Hi Digger…… Thanks for dropping in. I’m finding that Improving the couplings, especially on older stock, to be very satisfying. It improves performance and ease of use. I’ve also found that in certain cases the odd troublesome wagon or coach suddenly become we’ll behaved 🤣👍 As well as Hunt couplings variants I also like the versions from GLR Bespoke Services. I recently picked up another design of coupling on eBay from a seller called ‘adrianmole’. I haven’t used them yet, but they look very promising. The different types/makes gives me plenty of options to modify all styles of older couplings, even HO kit. Regards…. Steve 👍

Nice little job Steve, I’ll use them on the Network Rail Structure Gauging train I’m making. 👍

Hey Colin… Thanks for dropping, hope you are well. I’ve found them to be very good. Ease of use and more reliable running. I’m trying several manufacturers versions of magnetic couplings. GLR Bespoke Services versions are quite good also. They are all slightly different but the variety comes in handy for different types of modifications. Just in case I don’t get the chance nearer the time…… I hope you and yours have a great Christmas and all the best for 22. 👍🎅🏼

Pivot couplings currently out of stock at the moment. Have a reminder on my phone, when to order.

Enjoyed your presentation. Great fan of Chris Hunt couplings. All my locos, over three hundred and rolling stock have his units. Trying to obtain all the HST liveries, I have started to purchase old Hornby Ringfield motor HSTs which come with 'D' couplings. I like what you did and can you tell me which pivot couplings you ordered so I can obtain same? It is my intention to convert the three sets of HST to DCC after replacing the Ringfield motors.

Hi Kenneth, hope you are well. Thanks for watching the video and for the nice comments. The Hunt couplings I see are:- Hunt Coupling Elite. Described on the packet as - Pivoting Intermediate Screw Type Couplings - 10 pairs to a packet. Regards…. Steve…… R7R 👍👍
