@@beMOTIONdESIGN Yes! The idea though, is to pick and choose what you need. I mostly just picked something that could show off a lot of rigging ideas so there was some variety.

@@Workbenchtv Oh I totally get why you did it! But I didn't realize that this was built in C4D and then brought into AE. That's a fascinating workflow, and I totally get why you did it that way.

@@beMOTIONdESIGN This one isn't C4D. Part 2 is C4D brought into AE. This one was built in Affinity Designer for it's isometric drawing abilities. While this one is clean and vector, it's a little slower and not as easy to color as the modeled version in Part 2.

Great tutorial! That first concept with the cube vertically scaling, is there a way I can scale it length wise only or does it have to be a cube?

You could do it in the other directions, you'd just have to build your mattes to work in them. And you'd need to use something like the setup here: workbench.tv/tutorials/2019-08-09_Isopush/

We tend to do more complex things here generally, but if there's a way to work it into something we will.

wow super interesting, so im trying to wrap my head around this rig. The truck is just drawn in perspective and the individual layers are simply moved around with expressions? Since they are not 3D layers every layer is just a 2d path right? But then how does the switching perspective works? Sorry if you went over this in the video I didnt have the time to sit down and watch it all through yet! Great content though keep it up:)

Yep, pretty much all correct. I probably could've shown it more clearly, but everything is parented to that main null. It scales horizontally in two of the directions. So sometimes x scale is 100% and other times it's -100%. So I illustrated two directions, one facing up and to the right and the other facing down and to the left. The other two directions are made when x is scaled -100%. The colors in the luminosity layers are also swapped so they maintain the same lighting direction. Make sense? Thanks for checking it out!

@@Workbenchtv yea makes sense! thanks for the detailed reply:) never done stuff like this in AE would prob use a 3d software and make a flat render, but I think you mentioned using 3d models aswell? anyways cool that it is possible with AE! Will stay tuned!
