Why didn't he put direction with displacement? Isn't is a vector quantity?

In a coordinate system, if you take the positive direction to be to the right then you dont have to specify direction. The reason being is simply being positive implies it is to the right, positve is specifying a direction.

the starting point is from 6. we go from 6 to 15, so distance travelled would be 15-6=9, then, from there, we go 15m below. so total amount of travelling is 9+15=24
